Drip Edge / Water coming in on the 2019 G550/G63
We have both the pre-2019 and the 2019 G550. My wife says when it is raining, her new 2019 allows water into the car as the drip edge on the new 2019 does not extend out as far as the pre-2019 one. I think this is an example of chasing form or function. Yeah, a more streamlined drip edge looks better (more modern) but it comes with functionality sacrifice.
Has anyone else in a rainy State noticed this?
Anyone know of a good Mercedes Benz or atfermarket attachment to the upper window to prevent water from dripping in?

Could it be a clogged drain line? Hummers were known to have this recurrent problem with drain lines that carried water from the roof seams to the undercarriage. I’d have the dealership take a look.

The Tesla Model 3 is getting SLAMMED for this too. Side windows (all 4) AND the trunk; insufficient or no rain channelling! How did the G and the Tesla make it thru testing?!
I do love the looks of the 2019 G from the rear and the side....but all these cracked windows, whistling noise in the cabin, seats and controls breaking and not working and now improper rain channels?!
LOVING my 2018 G63 more each day!

I'm thinking of a shield or something that could be placed there during the rainy times (which is like ALL DAY EVERY DAY in Seattle )

My goodness, I have a soft top CAB E-450 with no rain issues whatsoever! I can open the window without getting soaked.

There is really nothing to fix, the new G is significantly more aerodynamic overall and the side windows are no longer flat. I have not noticed any issues with the rain channels channeling the water during driving in a downpour so there is no issue there. The roof is not supposed to be an umbrella for open windows and most modern aerodynamic cars doors get wet inside when the windows are opened. Weathertech makes In-Window Channel Rain Guards for the old G but I don't think they have started making them for the new G yet. Probably very soon.

Ok, I contacted Weathertech to see if they have the window drip shields for the new 2019 Gwagons, I'll let everyone know what they say. More to follow.........
