2019 G Wagon - what's this icon for?

Does anyone know what this icon is for on the dash on my 2019 G? I couldn't find an explanation in the manual. The white ellipses are sometimes not there and sometimes turn orange. I figure it relates to one of the safety features but can't determine which one.

Looks like some form of blind spot monitor. Is it on while parked? When does it change?

My thought was the same though the owners manual doesn't say anything about this icon in that section. Driving around I tried to figure out the condition of how the various icon properties work but it's stumped me

Guessing here; but the lane keep attempts to find the lane markers so I'd think that is signaling that either it has a strong or weak signal on the lane from the side view camera. See if it has any bearing to the lane keep feature and whether or not there are clear marking of the lane on one side vs the other side. Do the ellipses ever show on the other side, or both sides simultaneously??

Odd, haven’t seen that display pop up in ours yet.

Could it be related to the auto parking feature? Perhaps it’s seeking a spot and has the graphic to show location/distance?

I’ve not tried any of the auto parking features yet, but our BMW has a (somewhat) similar display that appears when you drive and it’s seeking a spot.

I can’t discern any pattern to when the marks are white or orange. They only appear on the left side. Haven’t yet tried the auto park to determine if that’s part of the system though it isn’t mentioned in the manual. A call to MB support yielded nothing - they didn’t know either

Played with the setting menu today and it is related to spot monitoring as, when you s but it off in settings, the icon goes away. It seems tha t the bars turn white when I am stopped or going slow (it’s off?) and then orange when I speed up. Nothing mentioned of this in the blind spot monitoring section of the owners manual ....

Might be telling that the system is On or Off at above or below 20MPH. Below 20 it is off, above it is actively looking for cars. My GLE63 does something similar.
