G63 whole car ppf wrap
Ideally, my new g63 will arrive around June, and I'm thinking to have it wrapped with xpel ppf. Has anyone wrapped their g63 with xpel ppf and how much it will cost? I checked their website and did some calculations, a whole car wrap will cost nearly 8k excluding the labor costs. I'm hoping to get an accurate price from a current owner. Thanks

I've watched a few videos of wraps and it looks like a complicated procedure requiring the removal of side strips, guards, badges, fender flares, spare tire; and i wonder about how it all comes apart and goes back together without rattles or damage. And the cost seems to be another killer here as well. Was thinking of getting the matte wrap file applied to my G63 on delivery but having second thoughts due to price and maintenance of it afterwards. Love to hear what you find.

Btw the ppf sold by feet seems cheaper but I’m assuming it will need installers to cut it and remove some parts, which can be risky.

Thanks man. I think to apply the stealth film too, my wife likes the matte finish. But the major concern for now is the price.

the price is insane. I’d rather deal with minor defects that only I will see with time, then drop $8-10k to protect the paint. Skip the wrap in my Opinion

What about ceramic coating? Have you considered that option?
I always put it on the new cars or when I get a car paint corrected. It protects the paint and is hydrophobic so it keeps the cars cleaner and no more water spots.

Ceramic coating is a good option for some people, it’s affordable and looks great. Ppf offers the best protection for the paint which is much better than the ceramic coating and ppf lasts longer thean coating. However, the ppf cost few times more than a coating.

I see this and think...so your ceramic coating/protecting the vinyl film??? While I see the function i'm always like "Whattt?" in my head. I'd probably just apply a sealer like Zaino if anything on top of the film. Zaino lasts over a year (just re-do it each year) and cheap.

What shop you planing to use (or have used); and when you expecting to take delivery. Am in the bay area and have found two shops in south bay that seem to be reputable. haven't called to inquire on cost. but what you are doing is clearly the most optimal solution. my g63 should be here in July/Aug for a may build slot.

Just to quickly help out and answer some questions/topics I saw you guys mention.
Generally speaking, unless your car/truck has a unique paint color that you wanted to preserve and turn into a matte finish, then simply getting the car fully wrapped in a regular vinyl wrap would be much cheaper and provide almost the same effect. Of course, the PPF will provide more protection, but even the standard color wraps will provide some sort of protection for the car's paint. If you really want/need that extra protection, then PPF is a more likely option for you then, at usually twice the cost of a regular wrap.
I saw someone mention that they were afraid about body pieces being removed from the car. At my shop, I actually quite often get people who prefer to have no/minimal amount of pieces removed from the car during wrapping, due to the same concerns. I just did a full wrap on an 2018 BMW M6 earlier this this week and only had to remove the badges and front grills from the car to properly wrap everything, since the owner similarly wanted to have as few pieces removed as possible. Came out looking just as good as if pieces were taken apart, but the amount of time required increased quite a bit, since you're working with much smaller gaps/areas that requires much more detailed work.
If you guys needed a second opinion on anything local shops may be quoting/telling you guys, feel free to message me and I'll try to help out with what I can.

@Festertester Getting my G63 in late July, or August. My build date is in May and dealer () says its 2months from build to dealer. I'd be very curious on how your job goes with OCD as they are the ones who keep popping up. Someone else I know had their e63 AMG Wagon wrapped at SS Customs. I'm getting a 7k designo paint finish so am going to want to protect it as I'm not sure how easy it would be to repair a dent/ding/chip and would like to have a matte finish without the hassle of a matte finish.

Very happy with my full body xpel stealth .. 7500 including labor.. ignore the pricing on xpel site because if you go through authorized installer their cost is much lower for material.. also should only take a week or so
