2016-2018 G65 depreciation/time to buy
Greetings,
I’m strongly considering a 2016-2018 G65. I’m hoping for some of the board’s insight. Currently, we have a ‘15 G63. Previously owned a ‘08 G500 and a ‘09 G55. I love these trucks. Will keep the G63 for my wife.
i has a ‘02 CL65 and had to have the engine removed from the bay twice to replace rubber pieces. Is there a similar concern with the G65? My research suggested the current MBZ is a heavily modernized version of the one that was in Munich CL65. Should I be worried about the engine mid/long term?
It seems like the G65 is a relative value. Assuming I plan to drive the truck for at least 3-4 years, when do is the time to buy?
Appreciate any tips or thoughts the board is willing to offer.
R,
Mike

It is a good time to buy a 2016-2018 G Wagon. Get a CPO vehicle and it should cover your three to four year planned ownership unless you drive an unusual amount of miles/year. If that is the case get an extended warranty. Good luck with your search.

Thoughts on this certified?
https://www.mercedesofcalabasas.com/...edium=referral
’16, certified, 6k miles, matte black, CA car... $133k w/ a $220k MSRP.
I’m in Seattle, so matte may be a bad pick.
Does this seem like a good buy?

Here's a white 2017: https://www.mercedesoftucson.com/det...s/M1970870/CAM
You get the larger screen from the 17 model and I think the 65 looks superb in white especially with the polished version of those 21" wheels. Plus white stays clean longer

I love the MBZ Tucson white too! But I can’t justify paying that much to go to a ‘17, especially when I could save up to 20k going with a 63.
The matte black one at MBZ Calabasas fits almost all my requirements, but I’m nervous about matte black in Seattle.
Does the 65 have more depreciation likely left? Am I safe to wait for a ‘16 in white or silver?

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with matte black in Seattle aside from wanting something a bit brighter to brighten up the days?

I do think you should wait out for a color that you at least don't have any reservations against. Surely as we get closer to summer, more will show up.
Here's a silver '18: https://www.mercedesbenzsouthorlando...deebd7187a.htm
I forgot how good the silver G looks especially with those polished wheels. Seemed like almost all G's sold were silver early in 2002-2004!

I'm sure it has more depreciation left - especially if it's anything like the other 65 series cars (S65, CL65, SL65)

*sorry, can't help it*

Lol, maybe I do want a lighter color for the winter and dark days! I was looking, and silver seems less popular than it was; I too have a memory of every early G being either silver or black.
Joking aside, we have a lot of sap and road grime here along with a ton of rain. Plus, birds always target my cars.
I just figure it’s not realistic to think we’d keep a matte car as clean as it needs to be.
Edit: what’s a good target price on the ‘16 matte black? $128k?

There's a G65 in the city that I see from time to time in my area, just saw it driving by yesterday. It definitely had presence especially with the very different V12 exhaust note!
