2019 G63 Door Latch
I guess I'm just unlucky. The passenger side back door latch stop working. I must admit that's an easy fix but the part is taking 2 weeks to come in!! The part is order from Germany. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem?

Last August Mercedes brought in a 2019 G63 for 3 or 4 hours for salesmen to train on. I was invited down to look at it prior to placing my order. While there I noticed that the passenger side back door could not be opened although it was unlocked.

I had exact same issue- all of a sudden the passenger rear door would not stay latched. MB said the same thing: 2wks for parts however in the interim, it was undriveable due to the door flying open. I wasnt going to wait 2weeks for a fix and they even tried to interchange with an older model but it was a different part. In the end, the technician took apart the latch and fixed it internally, I was good to go in a few hours. New part is on order

I would ask them to repair it. Apparently, it was a simple repair- its as good as new but i insisted on them swapping it out under warranty, although a part of me thinks the repaired one will be better...

I picked up my 2021 g63 a week ago with 30 miles. 4 days later my rear passenger door swung open out of nowhere while a passenger was sitting. Dealership took a look at the car today and said the right door lock needed to be ordered germany and can take 3-4 weeks. I found a used part online and overnighted it to the dealer. Brand new 180k car and the doors are flying open while driving. I literally had to tie a string to the center console across the door handle so my door wouldn't be taken off by another car. G-D forbid a child was sitting in the back seat and the door opened up on the highway. Im sure there are a bunch of consumers who didnt bother searching the forums for this issue. We should definitely spread the word and start a class action lawsuit against mercedes.

I hear you. This is the first time I had this issue. I had a 2014 & 18 prior and never once had an issue with the door lock.

MB sould hire an executive to manage quality assurance so there's someone to fire for this avalanche of failures. The Koreans can produce a quality vehicle for $30K, and the Germans can't compete with a vehicle costing 5x as much.

Mercedes needs to address this issue asap. My rear passenger door opened on the freeway and wont close and the passenger and I are still shook up. If this is somewhat of a common problem why are the parts coming in from germany and taking 2 weeks? I'm sure if I got a GT63s I wouldn't mind either but I had a c class and they just 'upgraded' me to a GLB lol . It's Day 13 since the incident they said hopefully by next week the part will be in. But once I get my car back im not sure how safe I feel about a car that has a latch that just opens a locked closed door.

I checked my work order and its the same part number you had on your work order. I got the car back and guess what! 2 days later the rear passenger door would not close again once I opened it from the outside. This will not be the 4th time my car was brought in for the same issue. The car is still at Mercedes Manhattan as I type this message, the response from the service advise was, "The shop explained the door locking is very sensitive on this vehicle; if you pull the inside release handle and apply any pressure to the door lock pin, it causes the cable to rotate 90 degree out of position and jamb the door latch." They have the lead service advisor still trying to fix the issue. I assume they changed the lock and when they went to test it the mechanism broke again. I had 2 other friends with the same issue and there car was never brought back one they fixed it. There must be another piece to the door that needs to be changed which no one is aware about. Im not accepting "sensitive" as a satisfactory resolution.
