Got our g63..pics & impressions !
Finally! Picked it up this week after 1 year wait..but patience has its reward and what a reward it is. Love it, however, few impressions and questions:
Love the looks, awesome design inside & out
Fit and finish is impeccable with minimal gaps and offsets, inside and out - especially designo interior is a must have option imo
Truly built like a vault, gotta slam doors to shut and the lock mechanism is loud (but pleasant) like loading a shotgun (and I’m not into guns!)
It ‘hauls’! can feel the 627 ft-lbs of torque but still taking it easy due to the break-in period
Sitting position, steering wheel control, occupants space & comfort and ride is many steps beyond last gen
Massaging seat is levels above Range Rover ATB
some rants (need input pls):
Ride has a bit of very faint vibration especially at speeds over 65mph, is that normal?
The ‘whistle’ sound with A/C blowing is evident and is there almost always - I have been tilting the sunroof open and then it goes away
Lane-change assist is obstructive but can easily be turned off
last but not the least:
While stopped at traffic red light on the slope in the Russian-hill San Francisco area, I took the foot off the gas to check it’s ‘auto-hold’ function. It began to slide back a little and then a bunch of warnings popped up in succession ‘active brake assist functions limited, see operator’s manual’ ‘esp inoperative see operator’s manual’ and also malfunction of blind spot detection etc,. Has anybody encountered such issue? Upon turning off, opening the door and starting, it all got reset and went away. MB needs to work on the software update
Some other questions: did yours come with the jack and toolbox? Mine has first aid kit but can’t locate jack - planning to ask the dealership
overall, loving the experience of driving it and it’s unique quirks. It’s definitely a unique vehicle not only via looks but also driving experience. Enjoy every minute of it.

Great color. We did not notice any of the negative. We drove it max 80 and no vibrations. The lane assist is a little scary at first I will admit that. Only complaint about ac is ours from level 6 to 7 is a huge difference in the amount of air blowing out that is for sure. It seems to me also that they fixed some of the aerodynamic issues. My 17 was brutal to drive on highway so much wind noise. I do not notice that same wind noise on this one

I’m beginning to wonder if that faint vibration was due to road or just the characteristic of the g as my Range Rover had air suspension and g63 doesn’t....will drive few more roads at >65
did yours come with the jack and the toolbox?

Very nice. I have told my wife I have been thinking of getting a TT Porsche for awhile. After having a couple of vipers , z06 . Hellcat I know I want some TT Porsche power. I know dollar per dollar turbo Porsche is one of the best bangs for your buck. I would like a red with black interior , wheels and black accents on exterior. I guess we will see. I have to by my oldest son a car next haha

Nice cars! Or should I say, nice car and nice truck.
The toolbox and jack are under the driver-side rear seat. Fold the seat forward and there should be two pull tabs for the hidden compartments.

Congratulations. I beyond love my Iridium Silver G63. My 911 S was also silver (as was my last 2 Phantoms and Continental GT). While I have had a few whites and blues....90% of all my cars have been silver; my fav. Enjoy and drive your new G in the best of health!!
I had the opportunity to spend a little time in the new 19 G, and for the most part Mercedes did a helluva job!
I am always so shocked when people keep saying how brutal the 2018 and older Gs are! We have driven several cross country and at highway speeds, especially, they are so solid and easy to drive and just feel like a brick glued to the highway (even at 75-85 mph). I think our two 2018 Gs are #10 for us....we have NOT been with a G500, G550, G55 or G63 since 2003!

so that is Iridium then? Looks very nice with the night package.
I'm looking at an iridium myself and would like to convert it to night package. Is the bull bar and tire surround black chrome or gloss black powdercoat from the factory?

Great looking ride!! Many miles of happy motoring. Great P car. I've owned Porsches and been a PCA member since 1972. Yikes....that makes me feel old. Good luck with the G.

I also feel the ac is kinda weird. I have to use at least 5 to actually feel the a. however if turn to 6 or 7, it’s kinda string blowing air to my face. I am on 18 Celsius, but it feels more like 22. My girlfriend is actually not a cold person but also feels the ac is kinda weak in a way. Also I don’t really can tell the difference between focus, medium and diffuse mode either.
