Emblem Removal from 2019 Matte Black G550
Hi everyone, after loving my wife's white G550, I got a matte black one. I've got all the chrome removed and it's down in CA getting those parts Black Chromed.

Question, has anyone removed the chrome "V8" and the "G550" letters off their 2019 Matte Paint Gwag? I've done it with fishing line and wax in the past but that was on gloss paint.

Any assistance would be appreciated, don't want to f**k up the finish.

You gently heat the letters with a heat gun, stage I, and they will peel of. The remaining glue you remove with citrus spray.

Citrus spray? Is there a brand or is it called something I would recognize? Thanks for your prompt reply, I want to do it this weekend!

Try if you can locate this. I can recommend that.

3M Citrus cleaner, adhesive remover spray AGC 8068

Other brands call it lemon spray.

My pleasure.

Using the heat gun (stage I), take your time, let the heat slowly build up. Keep a distance of about 8" and move in a circular motion. Use a soft tool, stick it behind the letter and pull softly. You will feel when they are ready to go.

i did the heat gun plus dental floss on mine ( magno) and then hit it with Dr Beasley's cleaner.... it was 20 min for it all.

I never bothered with the heat gun. I just popped my emblems off with dental floss. I used Goo Gone on the residual tape and then a bit of spray wax.

I'm thinking no...... one hopes not at least. Citrus will remove any leftover residue.... I then did a wide treatment of the reccommended Matte Paint treatment from my paint shop on the areas.... even in the light you can't tell they were there to start.

haha - nope, hated the chrome/ stainless and have the 911 flip bracket on it now with the 35" spare bare....the way it should be.
