New LR Defender 110
Actually that goes for most luxury brands, there's a reason why most "reliable" vehicles are cheaper ones like Honda and Toyotas. You can find people with anecdotal stories about how [luxury brand] is junk, including Land Rover, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc.
Brands don't care about reputation as long as the cars are being sold.
I don’t base my beliefs on surveys, which can be easily skewed- but on direct experience from me or people I know.

The ones who probably complain about them being junk are used car buyers who buy them many years old. They appear pretty reliable during the 24-36 month lease or when the person who buys them cash or finances wants a new one (which is probably the same duration).

The 5 RR I mentioned in my previous post were all under 2 years old (4 of them not older than 6 months) and had problems. Sure the problems accumulate with age but when the new ones have them its bad.
The survey I linked cover the model from 2013 til present and was made in 2018. So not exactly old beaters.
I can list even more people I know that have had problems with them but as you say, they buy a new one anyway because there is no alternative. So of course the sales figures look great even though reliability is low.
