I have also taken substantial depreciation hits on luxury cars in the past...but that’s something we are all aware of when driving these cars...I think in the luxury segment the G63 fairs a lot better than most and should continue to do so even with this price increase.
well at least that’s reassuring it’s also what my dealer told me but, in your opinion was anyone you think aware of this price increase at a dealership level before pricing came out officially ? Because my dealer really tried to make me sell them my 19 and get my money for it but then put me on a 2020 allocation which I didn’t expect would be such an increase

thanks

The reason 2019 G’s are selling at such a high premium these days is because there’s none around.
I would say 70% + of G63’s that are being sold currently in Canada are being exported to China.
Historically G’s have held very well. Probably better then any other vehicle on the planet.
The real winners in this whole situation are the ones who bought 19’s ( actual customer’s not people who will flip it to exporters).
I also predict that older ones (17MY , 18MY etc) will creep back up in value

definitely not hurting the value of my 2019 now, but by the time I sell 2,3,4 yrs down the road, don’t think there will be any material difference btwn MY2019/2020 vehicles.

from a mark up stand point I don’t think the dealers really make a higher profit margin on a 2020 vs 2019. From what I understand car dealers make most of their money on service and the profit margins on the vehicles themselves are pretty slim. I can’t imagine they would stand to gain much by pulling you out of a 2019 and then selling you a 2020 all that while knowing this price increase was coming...it seems pretty unlikely.

That's pretty crazy. I bet everyone with a 19 is happy that their car pretty much went up in value lol

I can confirm that the 2020 G's have been released in Canada.
On ground units at Port have left.

I find it counterintuitive that the significant price increase of the MY 2020
modwls will adversely affect the resale prices of the 2019. On the contrary it will enhance the resale.

Placed order yesterday

After a terrible ordeal last year at one of the local dealerships charging unnecessarily for placing a deposit on a G63 and insane terms on financing...
I chose to goto a new dealership and start the process again. No upsell, payment on my own terms, cash or finance.
MSRP $195,900
Written assurance from GM I will get my order a year from now, no later!
No more designo, only manufaktur.

I placed my 2020 order in November or end of October - put the remaking 5k deposit with it - build date was last week of January 2020.

I am curious if the dealership tries to tack on another 6k. I paid the 23k bump for 2020 already. Now another 6k?

More than likely unless the dealership wants to eat it......

My moral compass will want me to walk away from the vehicle when it comes in - or turn and sell it for a profit.

But my desire to drive it will probably outweigh.

Never heard of two bumps for the same fiscal year. I’ll probably walk away from it and get a Range Rover or an X7. Wife’s vehicle.

If you are financing the vehicle and you have signed all your contracts including your bill of sale then they probably can’t because they might put you under 2019 order or allocation

Well then I guess we are all in for a surprise but I doubt you’re going to have to pay that premium if you’ve already agreed to 189
