Currently have an order in for G63. Dealer said may take 1 year or more at sticker.. was offered a fully loaded G63 for 25k over but I refuse to pay over sticker so I declined the offer. Is the new G63 really worth the extra or the wait? I can just go and get 2017 or 2018 for far less. Thoughts?

Based on my driving experience with the new model I believe it is well worth it to wait for the new one. I have had a three year experience with a MY '16 G 550 and can say there is a marked difference. Of course, to each his own. Some may prefer the older model because of some unique attributes but for my use as a daily driver I'll take the new one hands down.

You're comparing a 30 year old platform to a 1 year old platform. So yes, imo it is a massive jump forward.
Also, sticker price is a red herring. What's more important is the current market price. I'm willing to bet that $25K over for a brand new 2020 right now is a better deal than MSRP for a 2021 1.5 years from now. 1.5 years from now the hype will be far less and market values less so as well.

After driving many new Gs for extended periods of time I would say most definitely not IMO of course. Sure the tech is years better and it’s prettier but it’s not the same as the old G. I just did 1800 miles in a new G550 on a long road trip. The start of the trip compared to the end of the trip was totally different.
I’m sure I’m in the minority here but several discussions with other level headed owners that have new and old are also coming to the same conclusion once the honeymoon period is over with the new truck.
Like I said YMMV and IMO.

Can't imagine an 1800 mile trip in a new one OR an old one but still going for the new one. Was going to jump on a 19 six months ago but decided to wait for the 2020 just in case there were any bugs.
