Difference in my 2019 and 2020 G63

Hello everyone,

I have been following the forum for a while, but just joined. I didn't see any threads on the differences between the 2019 and 2020 G63. I had a 2019 Polar White that I traded in to my dealer in September. I just received my 2020 Diamond White yesterday night. Polar White was a little too flat for me, even though I have had Arctic White in the past. Polar seemed different. I also had a lot of engine problems with my 2019, as it was in service for over 30 days.

So far the only noticeable difference I see is the two rotating dials towards the bottom of the steering wheel. I did not have that in my 2019. I did put the upgrade diamond quilt interior package, but I can't see how that changes my steering wheel. The left dial controls the ESP and exhaust level, the right dial controls which mode you are in C, S or S+. I will write again if I notice more differences. Thank you.

Do you mind posting a photo of the steering wheel?

I too had engine issues and will be receiving my polar white G550 in Feb 2020.

To those affected. describe engine issues. As far as I know the engine was a carryover so there should not have been any bugs to work out.

Sounds like the AMG Drive Control. Did you have the heated steering wheel on your 2019? (That deletes this option)

I have a 2020 G63 on build with the heated steering wheel option. Whats the forums thoughts on losing the AMG drive control from steering wheel? Keep heated wheel or not?

I did not choose the heating steering wheel in my 2019. I did have the wood/leather steering wheel just like I do now.

I had my 2019 G63 in service a total of 3 times, for a total of over 30 days. I had loss of power above 40-50mph, when I gunned the engine. My service advisor said it was a cylinder misfiring and honestly I can't remember what else. I am happy to find out. I do remember the first time, he told me they had to drive the car 300 miles before AMG would allow to release the car back to me. When it happened a second time, I believe it was even more miles they had to drive it to test it out before they gave it back to me. Hope this helps.

keep heated wheel- you can switch the modes anyways from the button in the center console and IMO clean look is better

Also agree -- heated steering wheel is an absolute must for me. Really can't imagine being without it in the winter.
