You can still make changes in yellow, but it's probably only a few days away from going "red", meaning no changes will be allowed from that point forward.

Could just be an issue with the option you want added - could be delayed/limited.

Can the dealership see if the unit has been produced from his screen? I had a 3rd decade build date for January 2020

Yes. Mine has same build window - it was assigned a VIN last week, and went to status “X-02” (2 days from production) at the same time. Both are visible in Netstar.
I’m expecting mine to complete production today or tomorrow as a result.

Interesting that yours was only “Yellow” in late Dec. I tried to make a change to mine in late Nov, and it was already red by that point. I’m sure yours will get built this week also, if that’s your assigned decade.
What was the “expected build date” in Netstar?

I don't have access to Netstar or at least i don't think i do. I'm just the customer. All i was told was that it was scheduled the 3rd decade in January. May someone here has access to it to see for me

ask your dealer to send you a screenshot of your current status. Only dealers have access, and you are paying you dealer a lot of money to do this for you

Your dealer is wrong, or BS-ing you. My vehicle was assigned a VIN, as has every other G I've seen build stats for, at 2 days before production. It shows up on the Netstar status screen. Ask your dealer for a status screenshot by email.

We both have the same build decade, right? (20/01-3). If so, your vehicle should be pretty much done at this point, I'm expecting mine to be build complete ~today.

Somewhat related but how long can changes be made in respect to the build date? For example, if my build is planned for the end of March approximately when the build go "Red"?

My dealer told me today it is still Green, and likely that I can make changes through this month - too bad as I will continue to look at making changes.

I tried to do the same but since I am getting the Night Package it has to stay Black, vice my exterior color of Selenite Gray. When I gets here I am going to take the cover off and have a local body shop paint it for me, which should be a lot less than the $1200 MB wants!

Why not? What would happen if you got in an accident and your fender or other panel needed to be repaired or replaced - it would have to be painted to match the rest of the vehicle. I think a good shop would not have a problem at all.

Otherwise, silly question: does anyone know if a build can get delayed upon request without changing the allocation?

I’m presuming you’ve seen a diamond white one?

i was a bit sad when I saw one as (my other half has a body shop and he knew how it would be)...... all the door shut areas are normal white (pearl less) as the car has its pearl finish put on afterwards. It’s a shame as it looks odd when the doors are open. I don’t think I could live with it personally,

I’m telling you this so you don’t have a shock; not to be negative as it’s a great colour :-). If you’ve seen it; this will be old news I imagine.

as for the body shop matching it I’m sure they’ll be able to do this just fine and for considerably less cost. They just have to get the amount of pearl correct so it isn’t too much or too little.

Did you get a screenshot yet? This is the [redacted] version of mine. Your dealer should be able to give you the same.
Mine had the same target dates as yours, and completed production on Monday. I'm hopeful it'll be at the port and waiting for a ship tomorrow. (Aside - anyone know which port these cars ship from?...)
