G550 wait times in Canada

I put a deposit down for a g550 7 or 8 months ago and I was told I would have to wait from 1 year to 1.5 year. About a month ago though I checked in again and I was told it would be atleast 2 years. So could someone in Ontario let me know how long they had to wait for the updated G wagon.

My friend put in a deposit with Mercedes Downtown July last year with a build date of 2020 and delivery sometime in 2021. Somehow he Got an email from his sales rep last week saying he can be bumped up and can get his G550 built and delivered in 3months. He declined cause he was not ready for it to arrive at that time.

If anyone wants one, I have a low option black on black g550 2020 available with 4000kms on it. It’s only available as an open lease. PM If interested. Price will be 5k over list to cover the cost of the 3m clear bra.

I think Canada is a lot smaller market and just doesnt get as many allocations as the US.

That is the key, the allocation, which will tell one when it will be built and approximately when it will arrive.

Yes, allocation is smaller, and demand is high in Canada.

yes there’s super strong demand. And it looks like some of the cars are being exported out of Canada because when you factor in currency exchange rates, the G550 and G63 are a lot cheaper to buy in Canada compared to the rest of the word.

I had to go through extensive background check before purchase to verify that I wasn’t a car flipper/exporter.

I ordered mine in November and got a March build but I'm a very loyal MB customer so I did get bumped up by my dealer. I was told originally at least 9 months
for a G550 and even longer for a G63. Hope to see it in May just in time for summer!

nice! mind sharing which city or dealer you ordered from? from what i hear, its pretty hard to get Gs in the toronto area. am wondering if its easier outside of toronto.

My dealership has a wait list of like 7 people so won't be any quicker unfortunately. I was just lucky that I've purchased
6 vehicles there so I got bumped up the list.

its the least they can do for you since you purchased so many vehicles from them. i guess i cant complain too much about my almost 1.5+ year wait since i never owned a mercedes until this one. previous cars were BMW Ms or Porsche 911. i had to go through very EXTENSIVE checks so they can make sure i wasnt a car flipper. it was quite the process.

Ya, they told me about all of these car flippers. It's a big problem up here and is making getting these things
very difficult for those who are legit and just want to purchase a G for themselves. I'm a very loyal customer
so definitely paid off for me on this one!

I should have gone to the downtown one too but I went to Mercedes Benz Oakville since they were the closest one and I previously bought a s63 from them. Even though I bought from them before I’m still having to wait this long. Hopefully I get bumped up too.

ya I heard about that too it’s become a serious issue for them. Also a lot of second party dealers such as humberview sports are trying to get their hands on G wagons just to sell them for more expensive.

Yeah because they are cheaper here they raised the price for 550 and the 63 which I don’t really mind since we get a lot of options standard that other countries don’t.

That’s a crazy long wait. How were you able to wait that long. I’m really hoping my wait isn’t that long though.

yep, the wait was getting kind of annoying. but i had an F10 M5 before that was completely paid off so it just gave me more time to save more cash for the new purchase. also this is my first mercedes so i guess i wasnt given any 'VIP' treatment.

Most don't mind, but that kind of fast price adjustment in a short amount of time is leaving a sour taste on the buyer's palate. Maybe MB Canada is trying to discourage people from purchasing it.
I am still waiting for my allocation, but now considering whether I should get the G550 instead.
The G63 went up 30K, in 3 months. The price hike didn't include any additional included options. In BC, we have 25% luxury tax on any vehicle over MSRP >150K. The actual hike is actually 37.5K taxes in.

i thought about getting the G63 but considering the recent price hike for the 63, i am glad my initial order was for the 550. i have the AMG night package which comes with a sportier exhaust. it sounds nice and mean. i have no regrets and i dont think the extra speed from a 63 is worth the huge price difference. its not a track car anyway. as a status symbol, the 63 definitely takes the cake but i am very happy with my purchase.

If we had the 550/500 in the UK I know my other half would be all over it. We are going with a diesel because the G63 would be a bit aggressive for us, it’s £40000 more and the fuel cost would be :-o
