2019/2020 seat ratcheting noise

Hey everyone! I've had my 2020 G63 for about a month now and absolutely love it so far. The only thing that bothers me is that there is a ratcheting noice coming from the driver's seat every time I make a left hand turn over 15 mph. I believe that it is partially from the dynamic side bolsters because the the ratcheting is very noticeable when the right bolster inflates and deflates, but I can also faintly hear it when the dynamic seat setting is turned off. I just got it back from service and was told that the noise was from a loose line moving around, but the adjustment didn't seem to fix the problem. I'm hoping to diagnose it before I bring it back to them so they don't have to pull the entire seat apart. Has anyone else experienced this problem? All help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Vail, it looks like the same phenomenon as I posted here a while back, I've not yet found the solution but, I hope, I've found the source: it's something related to the back plastic shell of the driver seat. Try this: open the back door and with your hand reach the bottom left edge of the Shell (just below the back pocket) and pull it a little away from the seat (1 inch), in the very same moment you pull it, you should ear the noise AND from now on you should be noise free for about 2 days.
Please, keep me informed.

Thanks for the response. I tried the adjustment that you said and it looks like that is the source. This video shows the removal of the cover for a C class which I'm assuming is the same as the G.
The cover on my passenger seat doesn't budge at all so I'd assume that the issue is with the clamps inside of the cover on my drivers seat. I'm going to bring it back into service and see if my advisor has a solution for it in the next couple weeks. Worst case scenario I'd think that they would replace the cover as part of the warranty. I will keep you updated.

Thanks to you, it's a very interesting video. Let's keep in touch for the noise cancellation.

This is also happening to me on my brand new 2020 G63 (delivered in late March)...has anyone's dealer permanently fixed the issue?? I tried pulling the plastic but it's also firm in place on my car

As said in the window rattle thread, after viewing that video, I gave a punch in the latching area on the back of the seat as shown @ minute 0:50; 1:05; 1:25 and, so far, no more noise..

Hope it helps

I'm able to temporarily fix it by pulling/pushing on the bottom left corner of the seat back whenever it starts to make the noise. I'm hardly driving anywhere with the lockdown in place so I'm just waiting for everything to pass a little before I bring it in. It seems that the latch doesn't hold my driver's seat back in place very well so I'm hoping that they'll just replace the seat back if they can't find a simple solution.

forgot to provide an update but my dealership took the seat out of the car, added more padding to the seat where the noise was coming from, and put the seat back in the car. No noises or rattling or creaking or anything! Hoping it stays like this since it always gets dangerous when you "disturb" the factory fit.

I put off bringing my car in due to the virus but finally brought it in a couple months ago and got the issue fixed. I just told my service advisor that the driver's seat back needed to be replaced because the latch that holds it on has a loose fit. He ordered a new one without questions under the warranty and it completely eliminated the noise. It doesn't pop out at all like the old one did when you pull on the lower corners of the seat back so he thinks that the fitment of the latch was definitely the problem.

Also had creaking every time I turned a left corner. Thought it came from somewhere behind the drivers seat. Turns out it was the door seals! Dealer lubricated all four door seals and noise went away!

I'm starting to have this very loud creaking/ticking noise and I think it's also from the corner of the backrest. Do you happen to have your Work Order number? Dealer is not willing to replace seat back just yet, so I'm trying to adjust it but no dice.

Bumping this thread - dealer has tried to fix 5-6 times and can't find source of noise. Does anyone else have any ideas or has anyone's dealer fixed this noise?
