Swapped out my star today, thanks group for the tips. Used a credit card and a plastic trim removal tool and it took just a few minutes, super simple.

You don't use the card as a pry bar. Slide the card just under the edge of the star, and move it around the perimeter until you locate a first tab. Then use the card to push the tab inward ~ 1/16th inch toward the star's center, and gently lift up on the perimeter to release the tab. Repeat this on as many tabs as necessary until the star comes free. The are 6 tabs total, and releasing 4 of them should do it. The new star easily snaps in.

the rest of the clip just pop by itself. now its clean and better looking with the gloss black look

Anyone know the part number for the rear star in black? Is the rear just held on with double stick tape or clips also? Thanks

It is held on my tape so just heat it up and take her off! I am not sure of the part since I bought it off ebay (and had it painted Desert Silver) but measure it and search ebay for that size.

I've found separating components held together with double-sided tape can be facilitated by sliding thin nylon fishing line or dental floss back and forth between the component and tape. Avoids potential damage of prying with a plastic spatula and/or breaking fingernails.

Im going to swap the chrome star for black but my G350d (UK car) doesnt have the beautiful AMG grille so thats where Im at right now, sourcing that, which isnt cheap because it has to be grille (3 pieces), headlight covers changed, front arch extensions changed and bumper changed to complete the look.

I think it could be possible to do just grille and headlight covers but dont know for sure.

I couldn’t afford the 63 so the upgrade is the next best thing, and black stars really make a difference, thanks for the tip to replace it.
