Removing Front Grille Star on 2019+ G63

Removing Front Grille Star on 2019+ G63
UPDATE: INSTALLED GLOSS BLACK STAR SEE PHOTOS BELOW:

Hi guys. So I am trying to switch out the front grille Star from chrome to a gloss black star I bought online. Does anyone know how to take it off successfully? Thank You!!

This is what the ebay seller told me, the one I bought mine from: "Front radiator grill emblem is with clips, it requires to be very gentle to not damage the radiator grill"

Needless to say I have not tried it yet since I don't have my G! If you look at the back of the Star though you will see the prongs that hold it in so I would suggest using a thin screwdriver to push one on at a time but gently pulling, and maybe wedge something in to hold it out as you go around. Otherwise I think you have to remove the grill and remove it from the inside by doing releasing the tabs and pushing it out.

Did this today. Blue painters tape to protect edges. Use sharp metal hook and pry star out carefully working your way around.

update! got around to switching out the front star. took 5 mins used a flimsy gift card to slide underneath the chrome star and pulled it towards me and the old one popped right off. popped on the new one quickly too. see pics:

Did you do the rear one? If I assume you removed the chrome one? I read elsewhere that someone put it over the top but I think it would stick out too much that way.

yes removed the old one with a heat gun. New one went on perfectly.

Is that the OEM chrome grill or did you black out the grill as well? I just got my 2020 G63 with night pack, everything is black except for the chrome grill and star. Looks good man!

mines the stock grille. it looks good! imo its not a normal chrome I think its like a black chrome.

Is that the OEM chrome grill or did you black out the grill as well? I just got my 2020 G63 with night pack, everything is black except for the chrome grill and star. Looks good man!

Did you remove the small AMG logo on the right side of grill?

in regards to the grill, has anyone swapped this for a black one?

From what I understand you need to take the front bumper off to access the grill.

would love to hear if anyone has done this...
