Also here's the 87 fully done. 12 months of a lot of learning on a new platform. This car has changed my relationship with driving... so much fun cruising around town and carving up the curves and canyons... The slowest and smallest car I've ever owned... Also the funnest. Ended up building it w a 3.2 from an 88 and a G50.01 from an 89. Fabspeed supercup exhaust and Steve Wong refreshed ECM and Chip. Lots done to the motor and every component replaced from nose to tail.
Well. The misses just gave me a good talking to about selling/trading the G55.... in the end, I've been given the greenlight to add another car to the fleet.
The G55 stays w the family, and we'll be adopting an AMG GTS Edition 1 later this year
Now to start looking at attacking low hanging fruit... replacing some speakers, getting a black domelight to match the fully black headliner and interior and finding some new floor mats LOL.
Also, new directing work dropped last week... I have a new creative / directing partnership with SAP and Mercedes AMG Petronas... looking forward to the year to come!
Glad you are able to add to the stable and keep the G. Does it even fit in the garage?
Speaker/Sound system upgrades are always fun. Feel free to send any questions my way if you need.
Great video also, and contrats on the partnership. Looks like you'll have to take your G to all of your shoots and not your P-cars to stay brand loyal!
I guess nothing lasts forever! Sorry to see you go, although I haven't posted much on here the last couple of years I pop back in now and then to see what's going on.
Still driving mine going on 7 years, though I haven't been offroad in a couple of years now. She's hard to part with and all the character she has, but probably... someday.
GLWS, and have fun with the 911, amazing machines for sure, still love mine!
Steve
Looks great Ian. Your G really is built for anywhere adventures and hoping the next owner puts it to good use.
Looking forward to seeing what the next project is. I'm hoping to get an older 911 of my own in a few years when I have more time for fun projects. See you on IG.
Thanks everyone, it's definitely been an amazing learning opportunity and a great community to be a part of!
My 911 has become my go to when I want to really drive, and the wife's Macan is our grocery getter and the car we sit in LA traffic in.
This car has been a dream to build from scratch, and I think I may build another one if the right candidate comes up.
In the last year I also sold off my E63 AMG, which was an amazing car, but I think the next car for me will be an older 2-door Merc that I can add my style to.. then thinking next year about getting a Gen1 AMG GTS to take on some long touring drives up to Canada and Norther US.
The Vampire Satin Red wrap I have on my 911 gives me a new car depending on the sun... it's made me new car/moto friends and all the kids in my neighborhood love it.
Hoping the G55 goes to someone that gets that same return on it everytime they hop in.
OP, going for a black Alcantara headliner is a smart move if you want your car to feel more luxurious and modern.
And hey, big congrats on snagging your dream Mercedes G55! Sounds like you hit the jackpot with that find.
really: the headliner? how times times you look up to notice; I had the inside cover of the sunroof removed for over a year and it didn't bother me at all. Well sometimes when the car was parked in the sun it was hotter than before. But I didn't miss it. Just my experience.
