G63 Window Won't Close

My drivers window, in addition to rattling nonstop, on my 2020 G63 doesn't close. When I do the one touch up, it attempts to go all the way but then it bounces on the rubber seal and falls halfway down. Same thing happens when I try to close all windows using the lock button on the key. The rubber surround around the window doesn't look flush either so maybe that's the culprit?

Any ideas on what the issue might be? If anyone has had this issue and has had it fixed please let me know what the dealer did.

thank you

Seems like you need to go and get it fixed by your mb dealer workshop.

Yes - just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience so I could point out the culprit to make the repair quicker - hate leaving my car at the dealer! lol

I just just something similar to one of your issues... the car windows shakes and vibrates at speed when open.

It is a safety feature to protect your ear drums from the A/C.

well if the rubber trim has rolled over or moved and is now in the way, that is likely the issue. The window on the W463A cars have an anti catch sensor, which is what is tripping when the window motor senses resistance as the window rolls up, and subsequently stops the motor. If you can adjust the rubber surround by hand yourself, that may take care of it.

I did this and the window closed! Although whenever I open the window again, the rubber anti-catch molding falls down again. Thank you for letting me know - I'll let the dealer know this is what's happening.

sounds like a defective molding. replacing it should take care of it.

These window moldings suck - my car has been at the dealer for over a week now. Besides the fact that the multifunction camera has failed multiple times in the first 1000 miles, the window rubber is taking forever to replace. In the process, dealer told me there was an issue with the window regulator after installing the new rubber surround. Hoping I don't have window issues down the line...car only has 900 miles.

When noticing the rubber surround sagging before taking it to the dealer, I noticed knife marks all over the rubber and top of the driver's glass. Probably inflicted at the factory or VPC!

Oof I'm one of those protestors! Been going every day!

But the marks were there when the car had 200 miles. Only realized now that it's probably because they tried to fix the sagging rubber.

Yes cannot be from the factory...

In case this helps anyone, the inner rubber catch is connected the the outer rubber seal on the glass. It’s all 1 part - door needs to be disassembled on the inside to replace the part. Here’s a photo my Service advisor sent me. Unfortunately, during installation of the new piece, they broke the window regulator so have to wait 10-14 days to get that part (backordered).

Looks like it was designed for ease of install at the factory at the expense of the owner for ease of repair down the road.

They don't make it easy for the service teams do they?

Soooo...has anyone here had this repair done to their G? It's been 3 weeks and the dealer still has my car. A chunk of that was waiting for parts (dealer broke the window regulator while uninstalling the old piece), but now that they have it from Germany (special ordered and out of stock in the US), they are telling me it is incredibly difficult to install the new rubber molding, so it's going to take longer. Highly recommend that no one takes their car in for this issue and live with the rattle because waiting this long is insane

As an aside, I have been driving a new CLA250 and GLC300 as loaners. The GLC sucks, but the CLA was great!

In this case, i'd chalk this up to dealer incompetence. Not sure how an experienced tech could be stumped by replacing a window gasket. This isn't an SR-71 Blackbird. Hopefully they do it right!

I know...it's ridiculous how long they've kept my car. They removed the window on day 1 and dismantled the whole door so I can't even imagine the amount of dust that's inside the car now too after WEEKS of sitting in the shop bay waiting for parts to come in.

Sound like the MB techs, like the new G itself, are still in beta.

I'd say that's totally unacceptable that they can't figure out how to reassemble. Also you would think they could come up with a better loaner car than a CLA or GLC considering your G63 costs over 4 times as much as those cars...

I know!!! The part came in yesterday too so I've been dying of impatience. And yes, wish they could have at least given me a GLE or something but they've been so short on loaners.

A gaggle of MB's
I don't know what dealer you're working with - because if they "knew-their-****" - because thru MB-USA - Magna/Graf would email instructions (often including a Adobe Video) like in 48hrs..

Do I understand your G has 200 miles on it when you bought it ? If that's the case - then whoever had it them kindof fracked it up..

no, my G came brand new with 19 miles with a defective multifunction camera and rubber piece! Just picked up the car today. Rubber is a bit stiffer than the other passenger side, so window rolls up a bit slower. But hopefully it'll loosen up over time.
