Talking Serpentine Belt which one? Does anyone use a Double Ribbed Belt (Ridges on Bot)

Does the Double Sided Serpentine belt give you better performance? Does it ever deform or tear, or shred on the edges?

Which Serpentine Belts do you guys use I never knew that there were so many options. The last belt that I bought just got swisted all to hell. It didnt break but it fell off and was a pain to get back on. So I wanted to order a new one.

The Dual sided double ribbed belts look awesome!

Nah.... I want to squeeze a little more performance out of it. The last OEM belt bought lasted about 6 months.

Plus you seem like the kinda guy who gets the cheapest champagne on the shelf... I dont mind paying a little mroe for higher quality and little crisper finish on the tounge.

The issue with non-OEM belts is that their length may not be exactly that of the OEM part, and while the slightly longer/shorter belts will work, the tensioner will not be running at its design position, thus potentially reducing the longevity and/or power transfer capability of the belt drive system. I have run into this for the M113. And after all, you wouldn't want to pay for a Krug Clos du Mesnil Blanc de Blancs and get a mere Moët & Chandon.

I just found an OEM G550 belt for $7.34 Just because its OEM doesnt mean thats its of the highest Quality. Im not going to Buy that belt just because it is OEM. Anymore Questions. The problem is most people go to the Autoparts stores, and ask for a belt, and "Joey" or "Jose" behind the counter grabs whatever they have. I like doing a little research. Anymore questions?

you sound like a complete (and borderline illiterate) moron.

Now that we got that out of the way, next time you get the urge to run down to Carquest (a habit from your Saturn driving days?), head down to your local MB dealer instead and splurge a bit for an OEM belt, big guy.

what you’ll end up with is a proper belt that will last you many years.

I'm not sure why you would want to use a double sided belt in this application. Double sided belts are needed only in serpentine drive systems designed for them - systems that have power take-off from both sides of the belt, small diameter pulleys, high shock loads, or no tensioner. The G serpentine drive setup fits none of these criteria so it seems to me that you would just be spending more money for no tangible benefit.

You are indeed correct, they do not make it for the G. "Your knowledge and intellect never ceases to amaze".

Mboemparts are as far as my experience a big rip off. Ordered a side mirror OEM $300 for a cap. Got a call 2 hours later that the part was not available but they can order one from Europe at the tune of $700, for one cap.

I told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine, and bought 2 black gloss ones at Amazon for $70 a pair.
