Need advice for changing headlight 2014 G63

Hi,

I recently purchased a vandalized 2014 G 63 .

Someone stole the headlights, headlight cover, front bumper and distronic and just slashed the wires.

1- would Someone have pictures of wires, cables and connectors that I can use to help reconstruct the setup for PDC, for distronic sensor and for headlights. Right now there are only cut wires hanging . If you think that buying a new harness is easy please let me know.Thank you.

2- I am thinking this might be a good opportunity to put in the new LED headlights. I’m assuming that this one had HID before. The thief took the light and ballast away so I again have just slashed cables. Is it possible to get LED with some relays. How hard is this process? Someone told me that if I get aftermarket parts , it will throw an error with Mercedes as Mercedes only recognizes its own headlight. Has someone got any experience on how to tackle this?

Also took away the COMaND radio and the button cluster from inside and I am trying to get those as well.

happy to provide more pictures.

thanks

Driver side headlight wires

Distronic and PDC sensor wires

PDC and distronic 2

Passenger headlight

thank you all.

the correct way to do it is to buy the wiring, pins and connectors from the dealer and rebuild the wiring back to factory spec. Another good way would be to locate a car that is being parted out and buy all the harness ends with plugs and all, then use those to rebuild the harness. The PDC harness may be available separately as a complete plug and play solution. The distronic sensor i would source used as they are quite pricey new. headlights can be found used as well. Good luck piecing it all together and hopefully you realized it won't be cheap going into this.

Somewhat unusual damage for a total but with salvage values being so high, it makes more sense for the insurance company to go this route instead of repairing. I assume the car runs and drives fine otherwise?

so I am stuck with rebuilding back to factory plugs and specs and going back to HID?? There’s no way to use aftermarket relays Or plugs? It will give error huh??

there is no way to go from here to LED?

i have sourced the factory distronic from part number. But I still need the plug point and the plugs for PDC. It would be nice if I could get part numbers for these wires and cables /harness. Is there a place to find these part numbers ?

thanks

for this type of stuff it’s best to go to the dealer and talk to the parts folks.

you’re not stuck but you’ll want to repair the harness back to the way it was first. There are several LED headlight options if you want go aftermarket.

You could update the headlights to LED, but will need a wiring diagram so you know what each wire does. Also, I would make sure to wrap each of those cut wire ends in electrical tape or shrink wrap right away to avoid anything shorting.

You can directly wire these into LED lights, but will need load resistors to 'fool' the MB computers to thinking the proper headlights are there. You'll have to size the load resistors correctly based on the power draw of the LED lights vs the expected power draw of the HIDs. It'll also be important to know if the system runs at a steady state voltage, or PWM. (HIDs probably run at steady state but you never know) The MB wiring diagram will help with this.

If you're intention is to keep this truck forever, there is probably little need to return to OE. If your goal is to repair and sell it at some point in the future, returning it to as OE as possible would most likely make the most sense (and cents!)

You can find G's being parted out here:

that’s very helpful . Thanks.

I am trying to source harness and parts to build back the original and maybe find used headlights to restore them back to HID.

does any one know where to find wiring diagrams for the G , or what specific wiring harness am I looking at that supplies headlights and the PDC/Distronic.

Yup that’s all they do to Gwagons over there. Park it outside and come out your Gwagon will be vandalized. I think it’s because of all the rich folks over there in Beverly Hills, Calabasas, g wagons are so common there and the parts are a hot commodity

yeah. Makes sense.

well except now with slashed wires and no ballasts and also no distronic , I’m left with figuring out which wire goes where😳😜.

even my Mercedes indie here aren’t much helpful.
