2020 Mercedes G63 transmission reset —anyone know the steps?
On my previous gen g63, I was able to reset the transmission (which I did often) to improve shifting and unlearn poor shifting...the process required a few steps but was done by consumer —not just dealer.
Does anyone know if the new Gen g wagons (g63) (2019-2020 models —-not the previous model years )have a similar reset sequence that We as owners can perform at home ?? The shift quality and shift strategies get worse over time —although much improved over last gen g wagons.
cheers
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. With gas pedal depressed, turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
Report back here what you find - if it reboots you to Factory Defaults - then your G will drive like the 1st day you got it - and heck, for most that's a leg up - as adaptive is designed to "trend down" from the defaults - adaptive does not "trend up" from defaults.

Delivery miles are just the type of driving to affect the transmission with gentle starts and easy driving at slow speeds. You should do the stationary or driving reset process before any customer’s test drive to put “some pep in the step.”
