might depend on the port? My 21 is going to Baltimore. A friend of mine had his 2020 delivered last Monday at the dealership when I was there.

To give some context, the CLA 45 cars started to arrive at US ports around January and weren't released from port until around June. The dealers were kept in the dark and never knew when the release would happen. That's probably an extreme example, but if the dealers say they don't know when the car will be released from port, they probably are telling the truth.

my dealer notes that its 30 days from Europe-port-dealership. My car left on the 10/2 ship. thats of course assuming the model will be "released" by then.

All is "possible" for as a US Dealer - "odd's" so far look like 1-out-of--5 for end-October - and 4-out-of-5 for end-November.... and as a Dealer we pray to the Car-God's every day for the G's to be released

Delivered
My G63 arrived at the port on 10/7. Arrived at dealer on 10/10. Took delivery on 10/10.
5/26: order placed
8/28: finished
9/01: Factory invoice
9/11: Ship departs
10/7: arrives at port
As mentioned before, salesman told me that when boat arrives, my g wagon would be the first off the boat. "Priority 1". He said that 2021 models won't be delivered anytime soon because there's plenty of 2020 on the water. When I picked up my G wagon, he told me that they're still waiting for more 2020 G Wagons.

My dealer just said that Mercedes has “pulled my build, they haven’t started production yet, but will shortly.”
Also stating that they are thinking a Feb to March delivery.
Didn’t think my post is worth a new thread, just wondering if one of you can shed light on what “pulling the build means exactly?”

Possible it’s related to suppliers. I had an original build in July but there was some issues with suppliers and I wasn’t going to be able to receive my G as I ordered it. So I pushed to a 2021 build where I was told I would get it as ordered.
If you look around current 2020 g63’s in America, many of them have mismatching night packages (some black pieces but a grey number bar ).
Maybe MB is trying to give you what you ordered but can’t.
In retrospect though. If I would have taken the botched July build I could be driving a G now vs waiting for one that is just sitting in a port waiting for approval for sale. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

I bet dealers around here can get a build within 6 months for MSRP but you have to live local. I placed my deposit on July 11 and my G63 will be built next week!

thanks for the info. Found 2 dealers willing to sale at msrp but wait is approximately 8-12 months. Not ready for that commitment especially if it isn't for a guarantee slot.

I have to comment - " “pulled my build, they haven’t started production yet, but will shortly.”
Basically - a Sales Consultant who says something like this to a customer buying a $150K+ 2021 G-Wagen either :
1. Should be shot for being so vague - "pulled your build" can mean "picked up and assigned a allocation" which may not have PO yet - or may mean it does have PO. If it has PO then there is a assigned factory build date
2. He's being "smart" - meaning when this rig comes in - they are going to add or increase market adjustment price - and he already thinks you won't accept that price - the reason to be so vague if he's not stupid

2). Nah, this dealership has a company wide policy that they never sell over MSRP. They have about 35 dealerships carrying 28 makes and the policy has been intact for years...that even applied to the Ford GT they had.....as well as special order Porsches, etc...
Unfortunately, they don’t have enough volume to get allocated a G63, but I have zero worries about shady activities regarding the price.

Autonation told me the same thing here in Florida, that they have a company policy of MSRP for orders; however, if it is a G63 that one wants the wait is VERY long. I was able to order my G550 that way though and I got them to waive the $800 dealer fee so I was satisfied. And they are going out of their way to help me with a steering wheel issue so I have to give them credit.

Which is what I said the first time the question was asked! But I know people are always hoping for the best and I could be wrong...it be Nov. 30th!

I shared this in another thread about 2021s release date:
2020s were released in early November last year. Our 2020 G63 was held at port for a few days and we took delivery on November 13, 2019 in Seattle. It finished production on Sept 21, 2019 and was on a ship that went directly from Europe to LA with no other stops. Dealer didn't have any clue when it was going to be released until it was released from the port. Being a presold car, it has priority (priority 1) when it comes to being sent out on a truck. According to the dealer, most truckers will also try to get more expensive cars to the dealer ASAP to reduce the chance of theft, damage, accident, etc. (aka they won't be slowly driving up picking up and dropping off cars in multiple cities.)
From my understanding only MBUSA knows when the 2021s will be released, dealers have no clue (even if they pretend they do.) Since the model and engine are carry overs, certification should not be the long pole, it likely has more to do with when all the 2020s have been delivered.
