Glad to finally join the club after lurking here for years and being active once I had an actual order in. I was extremely lucky with the timeline and ordered back in July, got an allocation in August, build in October, and delivery in December at MSRP. I debated on Jupiter Red but couldn't stomach the extra $4,000 just for paint, so went with cardinal red which is almost identical to Land Rover's firenze red, which I'm really happy about!
The Mercedes dealer was amazing to work with, and they have a customer for life. Their trade in value for my Rover was easily thousands over any other offers, and they took care of me and kept their word on everything.
Had an hour+ drive home and drove as securely as possible, avoiding any trucks or cars in general. I did have Apple Carplay and the infotainment freeze and reset on me mid-drive--made me feel like I was back in my Land Rover haha.
Was home for about 15 minutes before taking it in for exoshield and 3M paint protection. Opticoat will come later.
I think I'm hooked! It'll be hard to drive anything else other than a G.
Thanks! Didn't even get that far to check, basically drove it home then to the shop. I need to read the manual as I've never had a Mercedes before and the COMAND system is taking me awhile to navigate.

I had mine at the detail shop for 2 days, I’m still going through the vehicle to figure out how everything works.
Looks great! I wasn't sure if I'd be happy with a G 63 as a daily driver, but the new model is surprisingly comfortable...and fun to drive I could not be happier!
Mine has a couple of quirks, but nothing serious. For example, sometimes the engine won't start unless I open and shut my door again. Skinner's pigeons, probably
Did you notice the Lane Keep Assist yet? It's pretty aggressive. I'd like to turn it off permanently, but I don't think there's an easy way to do it. It's easy to turn off, but you have to remember to do it every time you start the car. If you forget, it will remind you when you least expect it
Thanks! Yes the first thing I did when turning on the vehicle was turn off lane keep assist. I don't care to experience it based on what others have described.

Haha yes that was one of my pet peeves for the Sport. I know the same dude designed both and the explorer came out first. Won’t have to worry about that any more.
I'm torn between thinking the Explorer looks like a Range Rover or the Range Rover looks like an Explorer...
Love that Cardinal Red. Saw one in person a few weeks ago and it looks great in person. I'm just not sure I could get used to driving a red vehicle every day.

Here in Dallas, TX, I was told 18 months wait, hence, we ended ordering G550 (that actually took 6 months from Sept 2019 to March 2020)
Is it because of Covid that the demand is slowing down?

Thanks! No I think it’s the local market here, there doesn’t seem to be a huge demand. Dealers only sell to locals which helps.
