Tire Cover Alignment Part #s
It drives me nuts to see it not aligned correctly. 🤬😤
You should be able to come up with a solution using a regular clamp, that's basically all it is, lines up with the slot in the tube on the tire carrier. Once it's set and the outer ring is clamped it shouldn't move anyway, even without the alignment piece in the middle.
Tire Ring Cover - A463 890 1000 (9197) - the 9197 is the code for black
Cover Disk - A463 898 1700
Tube - A463 869 03 00
I don't know the p/n for the receiver tube that's attached to the door-mounted tire carrier.
I'm not sure any of this is relevant to your model year, and the cover disk part and the tube are welded together, and not available separately. The tube/disk assembly is keyed to fit the receiver tube that's mounted on the spare tire carrier so the the disk goes in oriented only one way, and stays is place while placing the ring on and securing it. If you're interested in replacing the entire cover assembly, you might put out a feeler on the new W463 forum. Several forum members have dumped their OE spare cover, and installed aftermarket carriers that reverse-mount the spare. I replaced my OE cover with an aftermarket cover from Boomerang, as I wanted a cover that would fit a full-size spare (MB's idea of a full-size spare is a tire mismatched to the 4 mounted tires and that carries a "MAX 45 MPH" warning sticker.) If your setup is different from the newer models, there's probably some keying method you can devise, such as drilling a hole and installing a screw or bolt to act as the alignment key. If you post a picture of what you're dealing with, I'm sure other forum members will have some ideas to throw your way.
could someone please post a pic of how it should be setup on the cover?
thanks
