33/12.5/20 KO2

I have a set of 2016 G63 20”x9.5” wheels and would like to know if I can run 33/12.5/20 KO2 tires on my 2011 G55. I have spacers but it is not lifted.

Wheel/tire clearance aside, 33" will result in about 6% speedo and odo error. Why not just mount close to OE size tires and minimize the uncertainties?

Because OP has a G-class and wants to fit bigger tires on it lol.

Hey OP,

I've been looking at 34" tires for my G550. From what I understand, a 2-3" lift is needed for comfortable clearance with that size tire. Your G63 sits a bit lower than my G550 does stock, so you probably need a lift.

There are spring lifts that give up to 2.5" of clearance which *should* give you enough lift. Most people recommend a castor adjustment. For a 2-3" lift, the castor adjustment is relatively straight forward and simple. Any more of a lift results in more substantial parts, work, etc. Check out Viking Offroad or Gwagen Accessories and shoot them a message regarding your vehicle and what you'd like to do.

Also, a good tire shop will be able to tell you exactly how much clearance you need for a given vehicle and ride height.

Hope that helps.

The 33/12.5/20 KO2 tires are 32.5” tall. I’m hoping that with the 17mm spacer I have on the front that they will clear. My car is a 2011 G55. So it does sit a bit lower in the front compared to a 550. The oem tires are 275/55/19 and are 30.9” tall.

Are you sure it's a 2012 G55?

I mistakenly wrote 2102 it is a 2011. I see several people using 275/55/20 that are 31.9” tall.

I'm running a 285/60R18 (31.5") on my G55 with G63 springs and there is no rubbing at all lock to lock. I never looked closely how much space there is around the tire full lock to lock. Also I have not tried the full articulation range but mine is mostly driven on the street (Although I did do some logging trails and got some articulation in and didn't notice any rubbing). The G63 front springs are 1" taller than the G55 springs (when uninstalled - probably 0.25" when compressed) so your clearance will be a little little bit less, but will probably work. I am not running wheel spacers but do plan to add some down the road, which should help any inner tire rubbing, but may cause outer tire rubbing.

When you say you have spacers, you mean wheel spacers? If so, what width are they? As @shiann said, you could swap G63 springs for a touch more height. Or, keep your G55 springs and add some smaller spring spacers (20mm-30mm) to make sure you clear the 33" tire. FWIW, I've seen G500s with 33s and no lift. I've also seen a G63 with 33s and no lift. That being said, the G63 with no lift and 33s needed some smaller (23mm IIRC) wheel spacers to clear the steering arm. Not sure if you will have that same issue with those G63 wheels or not, but it's very possible.

i believe the offset is -30 or -50
have a set of 31mm spacers

Would a 305/50R20 fit without rubbing (with or without spacer)? Going for lower height but wider tires to stick out from fender (does not need to be much). If it rubs, how badly? Would love to hear personal experiences. Or do you recommend 295/50R20 and run spacers? Ive seen another gwagon run 305 but not sure how much it rubs (if any) and if they are running on spacers and/or lift. See below are images.

Here. Again this is not my vehicle. Based on his original description, only tires no lift or wheel spacers. Tire size 305/50R20

I ran 305/55/20's on my G63 with just 31mm spacers to clean the scrub radius on the inner fender.... then did 40mm spring spacers after to allow for full travel.
