Cat back exhaust

I am thinking about an upgrade to my exhaust, from the cats back on my 2016 G63. There are a lot of brands but honestly I am very surprised at the prices. I have modded a lot of cars in my life (Porsches) and nothing comes close to these prices. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What kind of prices are you seeing? Here's a list from the most expensive to least:

BRABUS
Akrapovic
FI
IPE
MBRP

Top 4 are valve controlled and last one isn't.

Thank you,

Yes, that's about right.

The MBRP is only $1070

No worries! When you're ready to pull the trigger on an exhaust, please let us know.

Thank you!

All of the off-the-shelf options will be in that range unfortunately. The G-Class tax at work here, being a low demand item, with few quality vendors. The MBRP is the 'cheapest' for a reason (simplest setup, least amount of material, no valve, etc) and can be modified by any good shop to maintain the side exit tips of your choice. Or going full custom, which will also come at a cost but will be highly dependent on the shop.

I'll be looking to replace my OE G55 exhaust in a few years due to rust and want something slightly louder than stock and all stainless, but also want to tuck the tips up into the underside of the frame. MBRP is way too loud (from a few posts here and over on clubgwagon) on my M113k motor so my only real option is to do a full custom setup unfortunately.

I have two valved mufflers and 4 black tips that you could have a custom shop make a set up for you. I used these same set ups on some G63s for custom exhausts in the past, and it sounds really good. It might not be cheaper than any of the off the shelf options, but I can tell you it probably sounds the best out of all the ones I have heard.

I just did a full Soul Performance system on my Cayman S. They do a great job. Why are you selling?

For valved, You should consider QuickSilver out of the UK

I think that I am going with the Soul Performance. As I said I used their system on one of my Porsches. All around it was a great experience, plus I can drive there and they may install it. Thanks for the tip.

It's not an easy, bolt-on solution, and the cost would likely be near the Soul or Fi type system. The tips look like these (minus the Boost Logic printed on them).
