2014 G550 windscreen replacement
Recently, at highway speed, we had a stone impact the drivers side windscreen, directly in the drivers field of view. The impact made a mark about the size of a penny- all that said, I’m unable to feel any imperfection in the glass either internal or external. It looks like the damage is between panes of glass? I live in FLA so we can get a replacement windscreen covered by insurance. All that said, are there any items I want to have safelite pay particular attention to when they replace the glass? They say they can do the calibration and the OEM glass is ordered through MB.

I just had to replace my windscreen...it was about $1k from Mercedes. The bodyshop guy said I shouldn't go through Safelite as they use substandard glass. Plus, the replacement windscreen they offer doesn't have the electric defrost feature.

They probably dont make that windshield because of rarity. One of their technicians used a sawzall like cutter to remove a windshield in one of my cars, and penetrated the pinchweld completely above the windshield. They tried to cover it in glue to hide the damage, but it leaked like crazy. Had to take it to a body shop to repair the pinchweld completely.

thanks for the heads up - I’ll do my best to ensure it’s done properly, calibrated and sealed

Thats not true. By law you can choose any shop you want. Safelite has a billing/scheduling network for certain carriers, so If you called an 800 number you are actually speaking to Safelite. Call your agent.
