Electrically this is possible, but sealing the splice to protect it from corrosion and securing it out of harm's way is the challenge. You should be able to find splice connectors at an auto store that are easy to install and have rubber grommet sleeves that slide over the wires to prevent moisture ingress. I can send you a photo of one if this will help.
I would use inline crimp connectors covered with heat shrink tubing and overlayed with Self Fusing Silicone Tape
Personally, I've never liked crimp connectors, even when crimped with a compatible crimping tool (instead of pliers) and when used in an environmentally unchallenging application. If you have access to the tools to do a soldered connection of the wires, and then apply an environmentally sound seal, you'll be much more satisfied with the result. If crimping is your only option, I would use a cap crimp where you can twist the wires together and crimp a single joint (like a wire nut) instead of an inline crimp where wires go in each end and there are two crimp joints. Either way, once crimped, pull on the wires to make sure they're securely seated mechanically.
These require no wire prep - you insert the wires and squeeze it close with pliers. There's already a sealing grease inside so the connection is water-proof.
Looking into picture of ABS sensor for G550, I can see it's spliced and doesn't have a connector (odd)
So I would say go ahead and splice it in place close to the actual sensor, however you first need to check condition of wires. In my experience, I've seen bad sensor send up rust/turn wires black for 2+ feet into the actual wire. Check for that first
