Lifted with portal axles

How many members have their G lifted with portal axles? I’m considering doing a conversion and wanted to get some feedback. I’m trying to emulate the look of a 4 x 4 squared. Most of the conversions I see only have five logs instead of the eight lugs. I’m working with a 2013 G 63.

Speedkills (Shane) over on the ClubG forum is pretty active and portal'd his G. He wheels it a lot also so has pushed it pretty hard.

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
Not sure on your location, but Eurowise or Raider Motorsports might be worth a call.
The main drawback I see on the Portals is the cost, and speed limitations..... looks like may only one of those applies based on your other rides....

a 4" lift gives room for a 315 or 325 ( 34.8- 35.8" OD ) but still let's you enjoy 500+ HP on a roadtrip...

There are 2 systems currently available
  1. Letech https://lennartz-technik.de/en/homepage
  2. Tibus http://www.tibus-offroad.com/en/prod...lt-on-portals/
The Letech system are the exact kits that come on the 4x4 squares.

Both have been tested and proven to be able to handle all types of off-road usage.

If you need pricing on any system, please DM us for details.

Thank you,

Thanks for the mention Texas E63!

Bill Rader Motorsports is the exclusive importer and installer of the LeTech Portal axle conversion kit for the W463 and W463A G's. Uses the 8 lug hub so wheels are needed.

For sure cost is a factor, entry level for LeTech stuff is in the $48k range but you truly get what you pay for.

Speed is no problem with the LeTech kit. Often times when we go out to a trail with our local G off road group, myself with my LeTech Portal G63 and our factory 6x6 friend will hit the highway at 90 to 100 mph, turn off to the trail push a few buttons on an app to air down kick up some dirt for a few hours. Push a few buttons to air back up and then 90 to 100 on the way back home again!

Out of curiosity what is the all in drop the truck off and pick it up done pricing on these? With G wagon prices plummeting and the new model out I will assume teh original 4x4 will soon be in the 150-175 range? A good late model G63 is still close to $100k.

On an older model like a G55 would make a great no worry but still modern comfort weekend toy. I think people who live on the East Coast don't realize how popular off roading is out West.

To do a proper LeTech Portal conversion to a live axle G, realistic cost is in the $60k to $75k range. Depending on wheel, tire, fender flare, suspension kit, and other options desired. That being said most of our conversions end up being in the $120k + range fully outfitted with CTIS, bead lock wheels, roof rack, tire carrier, skid plates, lighting, winch and more.
