New here! G550 sunroof making noise in tailgate would love some help
When opening or closing the sunroof for some reason it makes a noise in the tailgate area drivers side
it’s not the sunroof but only does it when opening and closing the sunroof
sunroof opens and closes very smoothly
anyone have any experience with this?

I opened my sunroof one day and it sounded like a rattling can in the rear where the motor is located. Thought the motor went bad, but then I thought about the cable that runs from the sunroof to the rear, might have been dislodged, so did an inspection. Removed the panel and noticed the tube the cable is supposed to pass through was dislodged from where it was mounted. Motor was fine. As the sunroof opened, the cable was going nowhere but the empty space in the rear, below the motor. Attached are photos of my 10 minute repair. All I needed was a new zip tie.
Remove the rear left side panel by removing the rubber gasket. Once the panel is removed, locate the cable that passes through the motor. Make sure the tube that it is supposed to isn't dislodged. It is clipped into place with a zip-tie wrapped around the clip to hold it in place. Mine was loose. Replace the tube and wrap a new zip tie around the clip to hold it tight and in place. Reinstall the panel, and rubber molding. DONE.
1. Locate rear panel with sunroof motor 2. Remove rubber gasket 3. locate tube that the sunroof cable passes through below the motor. this tube was disconnected. 4. existing zip tie where the tube is supposed to be attached/clipped in 5. re attach tube into clip 6. add new zip tie. Test sunroof. reinstall panel in reverse
