New shoes for G-Zilla

I picked up and mounted my new 275/70R18 BFG KO2s on fresh black powder coated OEM wheels. These fit perfectly with the stock suspension and 50mm H+R spacers. We'll see if I need a spacer lift later this fall when I start hitting trails, but for now, I think she's sitting nicely as is. Cheers

Great color G and the rims /tires look excellent on it...... should you want a bit of lift I'd highly suggest skipping to the JWO 2" springs t get a bit more compliant ride and better handling then the old OEM's that may have some settling... the cost delta isn't that much, and you'll likley want/ wish to do shocks at the same time. with 30k on mine, I'm still amazed at the Koni raid's for the money....

what's next for mods ?

I have those tires on my 2013. No spacers on my model year. I like them well enough but they are noticeably larger than stock. Wheels look great.

Thanks, Texas E63. Yeah, I have Jack's 2" lift in my shopping cart ready to purchase... I'm just waiting till after I test the stock suspension out a bit before I do. I did a full 2" suspension lift on my Lexus GX470 and it totally changed the vehicle. It made it way more capable, but it was also another level of modifications. I'm not sure if I want to go there just yet with the G-wagon. Thanks, though.

As for future mods, my list is short (for now): stereo upgrade, Fox steering stabilizer, low profile roof rack, and lights all around. I drive a lot on and off-road in the Wisconsin farmland at night so that's important to me. As much as I'd love to add a winch and underbody protection, I know it's not what I need for how I plan to use my vehicle.

Thanks again and cheers!

Thanks, Skymast.

I was considering 285/65R18, but figured I'd push the diameter envelope just a little bit more.

Cheers!

I'm impressed with the JWO 4" set... but the springs are the easy part..... getting it dialed from there is another 15k....

2" is the logical play.. do Koni Raids, and a Fox SS ... I can't recommend the Baja Designs stuff enough.... I run a trio of LP6's and then a amber squadron as fog/ditch lights and Rigid's for DRL's....to me the AFN front bumper was protection for dee in Texas and pretty much everywhere and a great mounting point for lights...

The Baja rack is a good low profile option IMHO.... and can take a 42" bar should you be inclined

I've built a dozen plus Toyota's so I get it.... 2" is the sweet spot. We did that with our G63 and while I love the 4" and all the stuff that goes with it it's spendy get....

The slightly skinnier and taller tire really fills out the fender well nicely with just a bit of poke with the wheel spacers. Fills out the narrow fenders perfectly. What are the size/offset specs on those wheels?

I've also got 2 very lightly used sets of lift springs (JWO 2" and Eibach +40mm) if you're looking

Hey Shiann,

Thanks and I agree... they fit just right with the fenders. As for wheels, these are the OEM wheels that came with the non-AMG G500s in 2004 and 2005.

I don't see too many of these wheels out in the wild so I decided to use them and have these power coated instead of the 18" Ashtaroth wheels (same specs) I also have.

As for the suspension parts, I'll DM you when I'm ready... I may be able to help clear your spare parts bin. LOL.

Cheers.
