Torque converter replacement cost
Hey all - I have a 2017 G550 … I’m being told torque converter needs to be replaced. Quoted 7k. I have no way of benchmarking this …. Anyone have any insight or real life experience for this job and associated cost? Much appreciated thanks!

Cylinder misfire and slow acceleration with a lot of skipping
coils and plugs all okThey locked out the plate and the shutters went away plus he drove it with chassis ears to confirm

Doesn’t sound too out of line. Converters just by themselves are expensive but the rest of the consumables will add quite a bit of cost to the parts list. The majority of that will understandably be labor. I’ve never R&R’d a G-class transmission but trans R&R in anything is a big job

So saying you have misfires and the plugs and coils are OK makes no sense.
Locked out what plate?
Drove around with chassis ears (whatever the eff those are - though I presume some sort of a mechanic's stethoscope), to verify a concern you can feel?
Get a second opinion.
