W463 - Where is TPMS 'RECEIVER' module located?

Hello, 2013 G63. Got the "TPMS inoperative" error yesterday. I have had individual wheel sensors go out and get replaced over time, but this error sounds like the receiver module in car has died.

FCP carries it and its inexpensive: Mercedes Tire Pressure Monitoring System Control Module - Genuine Mercedes 000900370480 | FCP Euro

Does anyone know where exactly its located so I can swap out the old one? Also, when swapping the receiver module, does one need a TPMS tool at home to initiate a relearn or is the car smart enough to relearn on its own?

Thanks much.

FCP is normally a warehouse of knowledge about repair procedures. Have you asked them?
If they can't help, I'll see what info there is in WIS.

Have you tried re-pairing each TPMs with a TPMs tool? Just a thought before spending the $$$ for a new module.

I haven’t asked fcp yet. I have Wis but the stupid MAC address changed and I need new activation keys.

if you find it on Wis I’d appreciate it.

I just picked up an Autel TS508 TPMS tool as well.

According to WIS, you should find it in the cargo compartment left-hand sidewall, above the rear tire well. If the connectors are labeled, they should be marked "X92/3". If you have the p/n for the module, it should be easy to identify.
Good luck!

Got my WIS working and the TPMS module for my 2013 is right above the rear axle. Ordered an OEM from FCP, thanks all.

Sitrep - I replaced the TPMS receiver module, car recognized it and said tire pressure will be available in a few minutes, then it went back to error state "TPMS inoperative" Now I have the permanent TPMS inoperative message on startup. Upon hunting some more in WIS, I found a multi function fuse block "MF2" pin 2 that controls TPMS and I located it on side of transmission tunnel by passenger seat. I don't have high hopes on this being the issue, but I am going to try to replace that fuse block.

The Autel MaxiTPMS tool can ping all 4 of my wheel sensors but cannot write to car via OBD to force relearn - "write IDs failed" I do not know how to reboot the TPMS module

Did you try driving the vehicle for a few miles? I installed new TPMS sensors when I last bought a set of tires, and it took a couple miles before they all registered readings. Maybe your new TPMS control module needs to learn the sensor IDs the same way an existing module needs to learn new sensors.

All the beeping the sensors seems to have woken them up. The TPMs module is back online and car now recognizes all sensors and things are back to normal.

Weird because before manually pinging the sensors with a tool I drove over 100 miles and car wouldn’t boot up the TPMs module and it remained in error state.

Anyway, I’m good for now and thanks everyone.

P. S: There’s new oem Mercedes sensors available on eBay for 16-17 bucks a pop. Take offs from sprinter. I picked up 4 for future use.
