Just tried to move sun visor to the side and this happened. I've had over 100 cars including clunker junkers and nothing like this has ever happened.

Wow sorry to hear that. It surely latches too tight, sometimes I have to pull so hard to get it off. I gotta be careful from now on. Will it be covered by warranty?

Yeah, dealer has a new one ordered. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for it to come in. I am guessing it's not available in the US. I am guessing without warranty it would probably be a $1000 repair, with the alcantara and all.

Wow crazy. Agree the visor is really hard to unlatch. The labor on replacing it should be pretty easy but definitely covered under warranty.

Yeah, easy to do. I took mine off to make it easier to remove the airbag warning visor labels, which is the 1st mod I do to every new vehicle I get.

Ouch!! Read the owner's manual instructions for sun-visor operation -- would never have guessed it could be so complicated. Seriously though, the in-board sun-visor catch mechanism is not the most obvious design. The visor does not release with downward or lateral pulling, but has to be lifted somewhat upward. I swing it to its down position, rest my thumb on the lower part of the bracket and use my fingers to gently pry it free. Unless there was some obvious component or assembly defect involved, I'm skeptical that it's a warranty repair (maybe you'll catch the service manager on a really good day). I guess I would have removed it, straightened out the metal rod, replaced the damaged plastic with some rubber tubing, and called it a day. Hope the repair bill isn't mind-numbing.

To me, it's a pretty obvious defect in workmanship. It only has 1200 miles on it. I am surprised something like that is made out of plastic anyway on this vehicle. I do not anticipate any grief from my dealership. They have been wonderful and I've been dealing with them for years.
