Does anyone have a solution yet to permanately turn off the lane keep assist.
I disabled mine permanently, but I had to remove the LKA switch module and wire in a circuit that fakes the push button when the vehicle is started. Getting the switch module out of the dash is the difficult part. I can provide more info if you PM me.
Or use some Black vinyl, cut neatly in a oval shape so it almost looks OEM - I think I will try it.
Black electrical tape (e.g. vinyl) would be more subtle, but you might find that it doesn't weather well in the sun and its adhesive won't hold-up to moisture. Gorilla tape is available in black and it will endure the weather elements longer term. However, black vinyl will serve the purpose of a quickie experiment. Let us know how it goes. I've read that some vehicle ADAS systems use this camera as an auxiliary input to the adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and headlamp auto-dimming systems. If the tape solution affects any of these it would seem to be a no-go fix for LKA.
Brake assist does not seem to be affected by the cover tape but I can't really say for sure. Brake assist has really scared me several times before and after placing the cover tape. It's almost gotten me rear-ended a couple of times and has definitely not prevented any accidents.
I'm not sure about the effects of the tape cover on headlight beam assist because I never activate it. Unfortunately that means you must not leave the headlight switch set to auto. But it's worse than useless because it normally is so unreliable and unpredictable in switching the beam.
But overriding it all is the necessity of disabling LKA, which on my roads makes the vehicle undriveable and I loathe having to hold the disable button down 3 seconds on every startup. I know the tape looks ridiculous but it was just a wild idea that surprisingly seems to work without triggering trouble messages. I wanted to throw it out there for everyone to consider.
Are you concerned about any possible liability consequences If you were involved in an accident? I'm not happy with LKA either, but pressing the button for 3 seconds has become routine for me.

Are you asking if disabling LKA could result in finding me at fault in the event of an accident? What if it was enabled and I relied upon it for accident avoidance?
The legal question is a very interesting one. I think we are entering a whole new world of legal liability questions with the advent of so many now-required driver aids and optional self-driving modes. But I'm not a lawyer - just an engineer and a car enthusiast. I have to admit that I've modified lots of vehicles far more than placing a piece of tape on the windshield and the legal liability implications never crossed my mind.
The question I asked, and the question you asked in response, are two separate issues.
I don't think there would be any concern if you jerry-rigged something that only disabled LKA. But, what if you inadvertently disabled or altered the behavior of another safety feature? Let me give an extreme (and I'm sure, unrealistic) example to make the point. Let's say you put a piece of tape across the camera/sensors that control LKA. But, the same camera/sensor also provides information to the headlights automatic dimming feature. Now, you're driving at night, and the headlights unexpectedly malfunction, and the high beams turn on and blind the driver of an oncoming car causing him to crash. I know it's not a realistic example, but you see what I mean. Anyway, I hate to give somebody's lawyer ammunition if I can avoid it

There is a way to disable it permanently through programming the module. I did that just to test if it works. There is a solution to have it off while starting the vehicle but not for g-class where there is a physical button in place.
