Washing in automatic car wash?

Hey guys

Winter is here soon and washing outside will not be possible. Is it possible to run a G63 with its spare wheel on the back, though an automated car wash? No brushless machines available so that's not an option. Normal washing machines with the car stationary is what we have here.

Thanks

It’s possible (albeit ill-advised) but definitely not if you have matte paint.

Thank you

What makes it ill advised? I'm of course aware of micro scratches in paint, but this is a 365 daily that lives outside. It's not a magno paint, so that part is not an issue.

I guess what I worry about is the horizontal brush.

Unfortunately brushless is not an option where I live. Have you had yours though a washer with brushes?

I wouldn’t take mine through an automatic car wash. Take it to a detail shop or a hand car wash place. It gets cold here, I still wash mine on my driveway. I don’t let the dealer wash my G 63 either.

I wouldn’t trust automatic car wash either. I agree I can see the horizontal brushes getting caught on spare tire.

I use optimum no rinse and wash in my garage. Don’t need hose just a bucket and towels and rags.

I use a Chemical Guys Chenille mitt, Chemical Guys Mr Pink car wash soap, Chemical guys bucket with a grid. I use a master blaster to dry it and use Car Pro Reload spray and wipe it down with a premium microfiber towel. It takes a while to wash it.

Non touchless car washes with brushes are extremely effective at removing the dirt and beating it into the sides of your car.

Been washing my 6 different G63s at regular rotating brush (Waterway) car washes for the last 10 years (3 of them were mango paint including my latest 2021). No problem!

I took my new G63 through two car washes and the biggest problem I have is the car won't dry... Both times I didn't have rags on me to dry the car afterwards and it looked dirtier than before the washes...

So I just bought the optimum no rinse, some chemical guys rags + bucket, and the after wash shine drying aid. Much easier to clean + dry right in my garage!

Thanks all for the replies.

So here's what happened on Friday. I was filling up at my local station, and a guy came in his G63 and washed it while I was there. So asked him about it and he said he had zero issues. After filling up, I took my car though and it went fine. Only thing I suppose is that the G63 was never really built for the washing machine. Got pretty clean, but far from perfect. It will still be better than having it super dirty all winter.

Thanks again all

<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Hi there! It's great to see you considering the best way to wash your G63 during winter. While running it through an automated car wash with brushes might not be ideal, you can still get it cleaned with stationary machines. Another option to consider is fleet washing services. They often use specialized equipment and techniques to clean many vehicles efficiently and effectively. Just make sure to check with the fleet washing service to see if they can accommodate your G63 with a spare wheel on the back. Good luck!

my detailer also washes mine when it’s really cold. I take it to him, he has an indoor place to wash vehicles that’s heated. I washed mine in my driveway last Wednesday and brought it into my garage to dry it off.
