How do these spare wheel mounts solve any issues with the Spare Tire Ring i.e. the cover that goes over the tire?

Or may be you are saying that Spare Tire Ring does not cover larger tires and the way to go is to get one of these brackets and then keep the tire uncovered.

No the spare tire ring does not even cover the regular sized OEM tires, so if you put your spare on wheel, you'll have to mount the flat tire on the back and leave the spare tire ring in the cargo area. If you want five matching tires you can buy an adapter that you screw into the tailgate and you run the full size spare with the rim face outwards. In this instance you can put wheel locks on it I believe.

Thanks for this! I may end up buying a fifth tire. I knew the larger tire wouldn’t fit under that cover and didn’t want an ugly backwards facing wheel 😂
