Windshield Installer damaged car

Brand new 1k miles and had factory windshield program. Took car to dealership last week and replaced windshield. Just saw this while washing the car. They damaged my VIN window. What should I do?

I think the guy screwed up big time as I have done this before and never had this issue. Worth fighting or leave it? I don’t even know outcome

What exactly was done to it? Hard to tell in the pic...almost looks like paint on it but it must be a reflection.

the orange color you see to VIN window shouldn’t be there. That’s body color of my copper orange magno and while replacing windshield the VIN is not visible as the sticker or whatever is there with VIN is damaged. That orange color in that VIN is damage.

The VIN plate is not a sticker, it’s a plate that is visible through a cutout on the glass.

It looks like the color streak is on inside of windshield.

They can probably lift the glass and remove the piece. As annoying as the fix is it’s the right thing to do.

What ever it takes to make you happy.
Get insurance company involved if dealer fights you on this.

Deal with only whomever you dealt with originally (the dealer if I read your message correctly) and not with their sub contractor, or else you're going to find everyone pointing left and leaving you holding the bag.

"What would they fix with?" As previously posted, it looks like a paint streak but we can't tell from the photo. But the dealer should know how to fix it,what ever it takes. If they bulk, I would quickly get the Florida State DMV involved. If the VIN number plate is damaged, it's unlikely that you will EVER be able to sell or trade in the car and also any suspicious law enforcement officer could have your car impounded until they confirmed the serial number and your ownership of the car. IMO you should take this VERY seriously and deal with it immediately. Until this is 100% dealt with, document every conversation and take photos of everything.

The State of Florida takes automobile titles and VIN numbers (and VIN SN plates) EXTREMELY seriously! if there is ANY discrepancy they will revoke or refuse to issue a title or license plates. Ask me how I know! So don't let the dealer leave you out there to deal with this, make them take the responsibility. I think that there are actually statutes in Florida Law about mutilated VIN numbers.

My 2 cents worth,

Ok. Called the company and they are going to try fixing it. I am worried if VIN Plate is damaged. I hope not. I mean how far this goes ? Total the car hahahaha... It's a pain to acquire G and now I can't lose one for this stupid thing. I hope they fix it with ease.

It'll be fine the VIN plate is recessed and you can tell that the streak is above it on the inside of the glass. Worse case replace the glass and that's on them not you.
