The child safety lock is the topic of a safety recall 20V247. The fix is a lick-em-stick-em label that gets pasted over the stamped marking on the rear door frame (this affected several MB models, and takes only a minute to remedy). There was, however, a forum post several weeks ago from a member who experienced a rear door latch failure that prevented his door from staying closed (without bungee cord assistance - lol). If this turned out to widespread, replacement hardware would be required, and NHTSA rules would require affected vehicles to be held at port until remedied.

I drove past the Mercedes lot in Baltimore on I-895 last week, which I pass fairly frequently, and there is a sea of Gs there .... usually you gotta have an eagle eye to spot one, but there’s hundreds.

This could be one of the NHTSA certified holding facilities where the repairs will be completed and inspected. Let all of us know when the G's start disappearing - likely you'll know before the dealerships to where they're destined do.

Our vehicle is on the Freedom due to arrive in Baltimore on 4/9. Other than the letter we have all seen here my sales rep hasn't any additional information to share. It completed being built i believe on 3/12 and appears to have left Graz to been transported without a hold there if that is helpful to anyone. However, let's see once it arrives to port if things will be held up like all of the others. I'll share if i hear anything.

I just got an iPhone notification from the MercedesMe app that my vehicle software was updated OTA. I assume it was for the emergency service location recall. Can’t find what was updated will look through the car menu later. Wondering if others got the same notification.

My dealer just said they got an update this morning and it was the lock and should be arriving Mid-April to be installed then released to dealers.
So by end of April, early MAY.

I wonder if they would be on the Freedom ship arriving on 4/09. I wonder if they just carry vehicles or might be transporting the new locks to repair the vehicles sitting at the VPC>

My G63 arrived at VPC-Halifax on the 26th. According to the information from my dealership as of yesterday afternoon, my truck is due to be invoiced to the dealership on April 12. They were in contact with MB Canada and was advised my truck is not part of the hold. I should see it in 2 weeks or so. Mine had a build of 02/25.

This makes it seem like the US G is being help hostage by some US red tape nonsense if the Canadian G is being pushed through. Especially since that was came in to the US on the same ship. Hopefully something gets figured out sooner than later.

How do you know or would you know that this is anyway related to who is in the white house. What basis in fact do you have to even think like that. This isn't Fox News or Newsmax and getting politics involved in a car forum is just plain pathetic. If you want to get political go on q-tran or wherever individuals like you go to tout conspiracy theories. And if it really has something to do with child safety locks that is actually a pretty big safety deal especially if you have children!

Guess we will see. Still seems odd that they will sell the vehicles to the Canadians without these “parts”. Maybe Canada doesn’t care as much about vehicle safety. Odd.
