2024 Electric G wagon confirmed!

Also confirmed in the new electric plan they just published: https://www.daimler.com/dokumente/ko...tric-drive.pdf

I guess that's why they havent done the MBUX upgrade yet on the G wagons. I assume it will be there in some form on the electric G.

They will keep the gas models going for a while too. Sounds like they plan to go full electric by 2030 so get your ICE models while you can.

Glad they keeping the gas G !
i would cancel my order if no gas model.
im scheduled to have a 2023 or 2024 model. (2 years waiting list)
im sure its for marketing purposes . I dont think the G class owner are the best clients
for EQ models. Only time will tell.

Same here, mine is supposed to be a 2023 and Im only buying if its an ICE. At first I wanted MBUX integration by the time my allocation comes but now Im just begging that nothing changes on the G63 in terms of design or powertrain.
MB please just let me buy my car and then you can do whatever the fudge you want!

The WSJ reports in today's edition MB's intention to design/introduce only EV new vehicles by 2030. MB plans to have 8 battery factories. No word on where the charging juice will come from. ICE vehicles will continue production as long as demand continues.

I saw that on the ABC news this morning. If you look inside the fuel door, there’s already a place to plug it in.

A friend of mine has 2 Tesla’s, the S takes 45 minutes for 2/3 charge at a super charging station. Not very appealing to me. They also tell you not to fully charge the batteries. When you use the GPS, it tells you where to stop for charging and for how long. What if you get stuck in traffic in the winter when the highway is shut down for an accident. It’s happened to me more than once. I could see running out of juice and being stranded on the highway.

I had always thought that was for the diesel version's Blutec additive.

Ditto that - I'd rather walk 2 miles with a 5 lb. gas can than a 1/4 mile with a 60 lb battery (lol).

the reason for not topping off the batteries, they can develop a memory and won’t last as long. Not ready for prime time in my opinion.

The greater concern with topping off the charge is overheating and inducement of internal short circuiting that result in incendiary effects. Battery designers continue to attempt packing more energy into more compact dimensions. Conventional lead acid batteries are generally safe, but what's being stuffed into EVs as power sources remain dangerous IMO. GM just announced another Bolt recall, advising owners not to top off their batteries and to park outside.

My friends Tesla P 100D has Ludacris mode and it heats the batteries for more power and gives a warning that it may decrease the life of the batteries. I get motion sickness every time he does it. If I was driving, I don’t think I would get motion sickness. I did see that about the Chevrolet Bolt on the ABC evening news.

Until electric cars can get at least 500miles on a charge and I can stop at a fill up and charge my battery within 10min like I can with a gas vehicle, I'm not buying one.

I'm not opposed to EV at all, but for me I don't believe the tech and charging is there yet. Maybe another 5-10 years.

I had a 2018 Lexus LC 500 performance package that Lexus had a recall for the high and low pressure fuel pumps. They were telling owners to either not drive them or not to park them inside the garage due to a fire hazard. It took them 2 months to get the parts to the dealership. They wanted me to find a ride to the dealership for a rental car and find my way back home when I returned the rental car. I sold it and purchased a Porsche 911 GT3. They had another recall after that to replace the low pressure fuel pump because of stalling and you couldn’t get it restarted. BTW, I live 120 miles each direction from the dealership.

That was a massive recall, affecting almost everything rolling off Toyota's production lines over several years. It's really annoying that car manufacturers and their suppliers spend years and $ billions developing and optimizing sub-systems, such as fuel injection. Then some dweeb assigned to cut a component cost by 10 cents compromises a reliable and proven device. You read about the financial hit that a recall costs the car maker, but never the cost to consumers who bear the inconveniences, nor how many buyers abandon brands as a consequence of related shoddy customer service.

Right, I’m done with Lexus. I had a bad experience with the low pressure fuel pump recall and replacement on my GX 460. They installed the fuel pump improperly and it was leaking fuel, sent me back 120 miles to the dealership. I’ve owned 9 Lexus vehicles. They gave me 3 options, take it to Toyota for a scan, if the check engine light was fuel related, they would reimburse me, have it sent on a roll back to their dealership at my expense or take my chances and drive it to the dealership. I had no idea it was leaking fuel. They had no loaner cars and I was stuck waiting in the showroom because I didn’t want to wait in the customer waiting area because of Covid. It took them over 3 hours to diagnose the problem. They wouldn’t let me walk to get something to eat because they wanted me to be around when they figured out they didn’t know what they were doing. The general manager said I was the first to have the recall done, so basically, I was the Guinea pig. My attorney said it was outrageous. They had step by step instructions from Lexus and still installed it improperly.

Well, ditching the Lexus for the GT3 was a no brainer even if it hadn't been for the frustration of the fuel pump issue... Definitely sucks you had to deal with that at all and I can see how it would turn you off the brand entirely.

yeah, the LC 500 wasn’t a sports car, I ordered it sight unseen.
Lexus corporate was supposed to give me the equivalent of 2 payments which never transpired.

do you guys really think that eventually they will stop making a Gas G? that would suck. and you would lose that killer AMG gurgle/sound on the G63! i hope not… not a fan of electrics unless its a hybrid with a twin turbo 8 with two electric motors in the front like my eventual 720s replacement… full EV sucks

Unfortunately, it looks like all manufacturers are heading in that direction. If you look inside the fuel door, there’s already a place to plug it in.

Stopping every 300 miles for a 30 minute charge is OK - gives me a chance to stretch, hava cup, pit stop and text. But those other 7 EVs in front of me waiting to charge are starting to annoy me.
