I noticed the circled icon in the image below came on in my dash for the first time yesterday. I was driving in Comfort mode. It pops on and off depending on how much gas I’m giving it. Also when coasting.
The truck seems to be driving/operating fine. Does anyone know the meaning of this icon? Has anyone seen it before? I asked my service rep at dealer about it and he said he’s never seen it before.
If your dynamic mode setting is set to Comfort (or possibly ECO), this could mean you've set the engine management system so that only 4 cylinders are activated. Try moving into Sport mode and see if it goes away.

Since disabling the detested ECO On/Off feature, I seldom bother shifting out of Comfort mode, but I've never noticed this "4-piston" icon appearing on my digital instrument display. Nowhere in the owners manual's section on display icons is it described, nor is it an industry standard icon per ISO-2575. My G550 is a 2019, so maybe this icon is a new addition to newer MYs(?).
In other AMG's cylinder deactivation happens most of the time when potting around in comfort mode
In the G63 it is rarely activated....I'm guessing Merc have tuned the engine to carry around all that extra weight and there is a noticeable sluggishness when running on 4 cylinders
When you disable the eco stop/start in comfort mode, it will still switch to 4 cylinder mode, but will not display that symbol. You can hear it kick in and out of 4 cylinder mode. It kind of makes a little pop and you can tell a distinctl different engine note. At least that's how it is on my G63
