Did Mercedes Stop producing 2021s?

I've been on a waitlist at a dealer since last October for a 2021 G63. They've told me that they usually get around 5-6 allocations per month. I seemed to be steadily moving my way up the list (I confirmed in February that I was 7th on the list), and then for each month since then, I call in around the 15th of the month, and they tell me that they have gotten either 1 or zero allocations that month. For the past 3 months, they've explicitly told me that their dealership has gotten zero G63 allocations. They've also said that Mercedes is not releasing allocations for 2021 models anymore, and that I would be getting a 2022 model at the earliest (perhaps later this year).

Trying to understand how much of this is true vs. perhaps the dealer is not being honest and possibly just bumping people ahead on the list who are willing to pay huge ADMs (I am paying ADM but only a small-ish one of $10K).

I understand that there are supply chain issues and semi-conductor shortages, etc., but every time I check this forum, I see folks getting their 2021 G63s delivered and I can't help but wonder if I am getting played by my dealer. I am not really sure that I can do much about it at this point (I don't think calling my dealer a liar is really going to help me), but just trying to understand.

Thanks all

Wow. Starting to sound like my dealer might not be being honest with me. Not sure what there is I can do about it at this point (I don't think berating my dealer or accusing them of being a liar is going to help me).

each dealer has a waiting list sorted by ADM committed. When they receive allocation they will call those numbers one by one. Unless the resale price for G goes down dramatically, I would never expect you can get it for 10k up, that being said, there will always be someone pays 30k+ ADM get the allocation from your dealer. How I know this? My dealer showed the list to me. (I paid 25K and my car is on vessel).

You can check the market price of 21G through eBay Motor auction listings. like this
Someone willing to pay 226K but greedy seller refused.

Bidding started at $100K - auction is justifying dealer ADMs, and verifies what buyers are willing to pay.

Allocations have been spotty. Some months we get zero or 1, some months we get 5-6. Cars are usually allocated mid month, I'd check back with your dealer in week or so.

MBUSA just sent out a notice on Netstar. No MY 22 V8's will be produced except for the S Class. Last G wagens produced will be built in December.

What does this mean? That the G wagens still stop being produced, period? Is this part of the switch to electric?

It means there won't be any 2022's. My guess is that the car will return for 2023. Assuming they can work out the issue with the V8.

I'm inclined to believe it's a fuel efficiency and emissions compliance issue, consequential to the SAFE vehicle rules. Suspending sale of the M176/M177 V8 engines in the US gives MB as chance to catch up on EPA credits, while easing the semiconductor supply line shortage. This could also explain the 400 special edition G63s that appeared in the US market during 2021, before the standards change in 2022. Will be interesting to learn if these V8s continue to be sold elsewhere in 2022.

I've been waiting for my 2021 G550 since Feb 2021. Talked to my sales person in July and he said I would probably get a 2022. He estimated I would get it in Jan or Feb 2022. I check in with him every other month to see what number I am on the list. When I placed my order and paid my fee I was #11. In July I had moved up to #4. Don't understand how I could move up 7 slots in 5 months and it will take 6 months to move up 4 slots. Go figure.

Go to MBUSA.com website where MB post how many Gs the dealership have in 'available inventory'. I was told by my salesperson that those vehicles represent vehicles that are already purchased. It does give you an idea of what they are receiving. I get the feeling they don't like MB going that but they can't do anything about it. I've called the salesman every time I see they have an inventory on MBUSA. Check it out and see it if they tell you the same thing. Let me know.

Do you have PO number when you `paid your fee`? If the answer is no, you never get the car. Dealer sold every car to ppl paid high ADM.

No I did not get a PO#. Based on information the salesperson and this blog has said, once the allocation is given you can then get the PO# and build date. I'm in the US. Where are you?
