No doubt the G63 is a fantastic DD but for me the RR is a better commuter (for me). Quiet, smooth, and undercover-ish. I’ve driven the G63 a few times and it attracts way to much attention. Oddly hellcats, civics and rustangs want to race all the time when I drive it.

I drove to a strip mall a couple weeks ago to get coffee. Parked my G as I usually do 3 rows out where it's too far for most people to walk. Got coffee and sat down outside. Two minutes later, an old guy (who am I to talk) zips in driving a new Corvette (top off) and parks about 4 spaces away from me, and goes to get coffee. Within two minutes, a dozen people are walking around the 'vette snapping photos. Detains the guy for 20 minutes with questions. Nobody noticed the G or even gave it an over the shoulder glance. Conclusion: If you want to meet women half your age, buy a 'vette.

No 2.0 in EU. I believe they do not have them in China either. Smallest engine for the G is 3.0 diesel with 260hp here in Europe.

IMHO, there's not a chance we shall ever again see a new diesel powered MB vehcile, of any stripe, in the US.

Hmmm so I was curious so I looked it up, apparently they do have a 2.0L 4 banger there called a G350 (not the diesel one in Europe as that is different) :

They have a diesel in the Sprinter vans. I had a 2009 BMW X5 twin turbo diesel that was a lemon. I kept it one year. BMW offered me a trade assist.

Guys, please help me understand.

If the 2022 models are indeed hybrids, what do you reckon will happen to 2021 prices? Will they hold values? Go up even more? Or will they implode due to the current bubble we're in?

I just don't understand how current owners will switch to a hybrid...

It's like me selling my performante for the next Huracan replacement which will be a V8 hybrid. Makes no sense, at least for me.

But if it's the 630hp 4.0L V8 + hybrid system they are putting the in new GT63 S E then why not?

All you can be certain of is:
1. The hybrid will cost more to manufacture.
2. The hybrid will produce better mpg stats on EPA dynamometer testing.
Everything else is anybody's guess.

I have a 2019 G63 and a 2021 GLS63. The hybrid system reliability is appalling. Google Mercedes 48 volt

This is the issue that no one realizes... I haven't found one manufacturer that has created a "good" hybrid. Reliability is usually the biggest issue. Now add a hybrid to the G Wagon... I can't even begin to imagine the issues with reliability.

Manufacturers score extra EPA mpg points for time spent in the shop being repaired.(lol)
