I hope it’s not true but my dealer has always been pretty straight up with me. The 4x4^2 isn’t cancelled worldwide, but it’s dead in the US. They didn’t have to make an official announcement because it’s not an official model yet, so there was nothing to “cancel.” But according to the dealer, it’s dead in the US for the same reason that they cancelled the 2022 model year. What crappy news

 

Do you mean 4x4^2 with portal axles? Or base 4WD?

Well that's very disappointing. Maybe I can switch my deposit to another G63...

 

This model will be available late next year or in 2023 as a 23. How can they cancel something they haven’t announced?

Why would the test car be running around LA if it is not going to be released here. Any delay is more than likely due to the emission issues on the engine.

 

I don't remember the squared being a big seller here last time around, and really it was quite goofy looking. Now the 6x6 would be 😎

We sold every one we got for way over sticker, and any I saw get traded in re-sold for more used than they stickered for. Not sure where they weren't a big seller. They are just rare with such a low volume built.

 

Really hoping this one will be as rare and the demand will be the same.

 

I'm just hoping it actually gets made. Anyone hear any updates? None of my dealers have heard a word about it in months.

 

We were originally told there wouldn't be a new 4X4 squared. This isn't really surprising.

 

No new Squared. The last of our G550s and G63s will be showing up here next month and production on them destined for the US ceases today.

 

Nothing is ceasing, it will be back in 2023... Also the new squared camouflaged car has been seen in LA and all around the world, doubt Mercedes would fund its production and testing only for it to not produce the car. I have a deposit with my dealer and Im first in line for when the squared gets announced.

 

If something changes and you hear they are going to produce, please let me know. Thanks.

 

I agree with this line of thinking. There have even been videos of it testing, so unless MB finds a reason to dump a program they have no doubt dumped some money in, I would think it will eventually get built. Then again, if EPA requirements are causing such hassle for the normal Gs, then a Squared might be seen as too much of a hassle, even in limited numbers. Regardless, I've got my fingers crossed they make one!

 

I should have phrased that better. With the G Series trucks temporarily suspended for the North American market, the Squared is also on pause. There are no allocations for them or a regular G that can be ordered. The last of the North American bound cars had to be completed on 12/31/21.

We were told it would be available here after being told it wouldn't be. Nothing firm right now.

Called my dealer as soon as I heard today. He said he just saw also but no details beyond the press release yet.
