Anyone take their G63 through a traditional car wash? Touchless of course

No, I wash mine by hand on my driveway.

Yes. People pamper theses rigs, they are designed to take on hostile off-road conditions and yet we are afraid to take them through a wash.

if you don’t want to wash it by hand, take it to a detailer or a hand car wash place. I would never take mine through the brush wash. I don’t let the dealership wash my G 63. When it was delivered, I told them not to do anything to it, I took it straight to the detailer for a lifetime ceramic pro coating.

Just cause you can, doesn't mean you have to

It's like spending $100,000 on a watch that's rated to go 100m under water. You'll probably still take it off while going for a dip at the beach

It's well established that automatic car washes cause a huge amount of swirls on your paintwork - and that the quality of the wash itself is pretty poor. Waste of time and money

I have an automatic touchless wash by my house with an unlimited wash plan. Go through about 3-4 times a week (kids have a blast). No issues or concerns.

the soap is still harsh, not good on your finish. I use a PH neutral car wash soap and hand wash my G myself.

Yes I do. No problems as long as the machine is approved for the size of car. My carwash use a WashTec machine.

Only thing to consider is the fact that the G63 was never designed for this. Don't expect it to get spotless. That's just the nature of the shape.

Such frequent washing will wear your finish over time. Not sure what the point of that is. Once a week should do fine.

What detailer do you have that uses a "lifetime" ceramic coating? If I met a detailer that used a ceramic product claiming to be "lifetime" I would walk away. That's simply not possible.

it has a lifetime warranty, I have to bring it back once a year to keep the warranty up. I use Car Pro reload spray every time I wash it. I’ll Google Ceramic Pro lifetime coating and get back to you.
Google Ceramic Pro lifetime warranty.

My kids have a blast. That’s reason enough for me. It’s a car not a piece of artwork.
I’ll trade it in for a new one long before the paint finish is worn off anyway.

Some brushes will leave swirl marks. It also depends on the type of car towels they use. Those can definitely leave some swirl marks.

I have all my cars mobile hand washed. For some of my cars I provide them with my own car towels.

I suppose it may depend upon color and finish. I wouldn't risk it with black or any magno finish. There are so many other options as mentioned such as handwashing yourself, detail shop or mobile washer. I actually enjoy my time washing and detailing. It's peaceful.

No front plate on mine, even though it’s required in my state.

I don’t use towels, I have a Master Blaster to dry my vehicles.

so hands will leave swirl marks, some humans can also press hard or lean too hard and dent a car…humans are prone to mistakes… these machines, believe it or not, have sensors so they dont push hard, the brushes arent even brushes… they are individual pieces and are very light and the chemicals are very very top quality… the towels are different for body and windows… the blowers do most of the drying…

that said, not every wash is the same.

some more pics for fun:

True, every car wash is different. Unfortunately, here in LA, you are better of with mobile wash. The car washes I have been to use horrible overused towels that damage most of the vehicles.

For some of my cars, I have mobile wash guys use my own car towels (microfiber 600 gsm edgeless).
