Thats a better setup than just rpms or preset by the car itself. I miss having that on my G wagon!! I guess the only downside (maybe less for you because you don't have pre-wired electronic flap controller so in all your options with controlling the open/close of the exhaust flaps, you will need to bring a vacuum line from your engine to the mufflers....
thanks, very helpful. Actually, I was wrong. I do have the sports exhaust on my G550. Since I didn't find the exhaust button, I assumed I don't have it (it turned out the button only comes on the G63).. Now since i have the OEM sports exhaust would this make things better if I go with Capristo or another brand?

OK..so you will have to same setup as me! I ended up keeping with the oem electronics to control the mufflers. So I got the G63 OEM mufflers and then a Renntech controller (https://www.renntechmercedes.com/ind...t-valve-module) so that I can open/close it when I want to. With their controller, you can use the supplied FOB or you can program your homelink garage door buttons to control (which is what I did)

I think with the other brands, so leverage the OEM electronics and some do not. With the Capristo, because they use their own controller, I believe the mufflers are setup for vacuum valves vs. the electronic controller that mounts on top of the flap (OEM) to control the flap.

Interesting set up. Definitely will consider it. Why did you change to G63 exhaust? Isn't the mufflers on G550 same as G63 (except for the muffler tips)?

The G63 is definitely louder than the G550 muffler - not sure if the mufflers are the same or not - it could be and the loudness just comes from the tip coming out the side vs pointed down.

I started in the same place as you, wanting somethin louder but not crazy loud and didn't want any drone... started with G63 mufflers...then swapped them to Kline mufflers (which are also supposed to be pretty tame), thought it was too loud and went back to the G63 ones!!!!

You are absolutely correct. The exhaust On G63 is different than the one on G550.

I can attest that the G63 mufflers are different than the ones found on the G550 since I swapped them. I bought the G63 mufflers and side exit tips from a member here and put them on the G550 I had. No cutting was involved and I only had to move the actuators over. The sound from the G63 mufflers was a lot better!

So... I went with Cargraphic exhaust. I bought it from Germany. The sound is exactly what I wanted. "a gentle rumble"... a deep rumble like an old 8 cylinder truck

Nice research on exhausts.

does it backfire on yours like the video too?

also, I have the sports exhaust on my g550 too - what is the remote for or is that not needed?

Yes it indeed does backfire. I have the sport exhaust too.

The remote is used to override the exhaust flaps. Basically it could force the exhaust's flaps to ALWAYS OPEN OR ALWAYS CLOSED OR AUTO (controlled by the car's RPM)

Something you could add to your exhaust:
https://redstarexhaustusa.com/merced...463a-downpipes

I'm going with HJS HD 200cpsi 130mm with performance heat shielding and no 02 sensor spacers. The HJS 130mm will avoid a CEL, the GESI GEN2 UHO+ 400cpsi 5" will also avoid a CEL light, but HJS has more flow.

I plan to either add a OEM G63 exhaust or Brabus exhaust.

Also for you @dakmary Cargraphics uses HJS for their other exhaust systems too: https://www.cargraphic.de/en/your-ve...ic-converters/

Hi,
I own 2023 G500 (yes, I live in Europe) and I am trying to figure out if I buy G63 mufflers will they fit straight my car without cutting or welding? I have the factory sport exhaust option. Are there any other needed brackets or bushings to be replaced?
I don't like how my original openings are positioned. When I start my engine on a dirt road it is lifting a lot of dust.

I went through the same procedure with my 2017 G500, but there the G63's didn't fit and I used the G500 4x4 exhausts.

Can anyone give me the part numbers for the left and right muffler from the W463A G63 that should fit? I have several but not sure which are.A463 490 77 01
A463 490 78 01

A463 490 09 02 / A463 490 33 02
A463 490 10 02 / A463 490 34 02

Thank you.
