Proximity sensors go off when stopping (2020 G63)

Anyone having issues with the front two center proximity sensors going off at low speeds when stopping even though nothing is there (stopping at a red light)? From researching this issue online it appears that some people were complaining that the alignment of the bull bar may have been off, however, my front sensor issue seems to come and go with sometimes it just being the front ones that go off and sometimes it’s all the way around the car that they light up red even though nothing is there.

Yep, mine does the same thing when the truck is dirty. Just need to wash the sensors...

Dealer tried to do an update on sensors to reduce sensor randomly going off while coming to stop at red lights... only slightly better... all the surrounding sensors still randomly go off (but possibly slightly less)... (the sensors are not dirty or obstructed).

My 2020 G63 does this as well. Usually starts after 10-15 minutes of driving, then when I brake, the perimeter sensors go off, nothing is around me, the car/sensors are clean. I recently took to dealer and they said there's nothing wrong with the sensors. It's really annoying. So will follow your lead and ask for an update on sensors and may ask them to physically check all the sensors for proper connections.

Check for updates yes but you should also try adjusting the sensitivity of the sensors in COMAND I think.

Our 2019 G63 had same issues. After a few trips, the bull bar was 5mm closer on the one side. It was adjusted and everything resolved.

It’s not just washing the bumper sensors - the windshield must be clean in front of the central mirror as well; that’s where the lane keep assist camera is, which is also used for proximity detection.

I don't see in the system where you can adjust the sensitivity on the G63. And the windshield is clean also.

I see, I could had thought COMAND 5.1 (5.5?) have sensitivity adjustments in terms of warn early, warn late and standard if I recalled correctly.

I get the same issue on my 2021 G63. It happens pretty often but haven’t bothered to get it checked. I don’t think it has anything to do with car being dirty. It even happens right after a wash. Most likely its the front bar causing the issue since it only happens at the front of the vehicle.

In my case it had to do with the windshield PPF film starting to fade and deteriorate. Interferes with the cameras in front of the rear view mirror. After replacing the PPF it’s fine.

Just curious, but what windshield PPF product were you using (and did you install the same one again) and how long did it last?

Sure. And this is with Canadian winters. The salt wears the film down.
It’s well worth it, even if replaced more often.

Didn't know this can survive Canadian winters, I should consider trying it out, thanks!

Yes. And my G is outdoors 24x7 (unfortunately). Exoshield are a Canadian company. The first version of Exoshield wasn’t great in terms of longevity but they have improved it.

It’s important to keep the wiper blades clean. I replace them annually.

Thanks for your reply, sorry to hear your vehicle is outdoors 24x7 but glad it is protected by a good product. I see, I should give the product a go then.

100%. It has absorbed some rock hits which took a chunk of the film out, but kept the glass intact, which is of course the intent.
