Slowing to a stop and parktronic

Just took delivery of my 2022 g63. When coming to stop at a stoplight i think the car thinks I’m parking and the music turns off and and the parking sensors beeping at the cars in adjacent lanes. At least i think this is what’s going on, i also see the parktronic logo on the lower center dash display, not sure if that’s related or not. I thought only when you push the parktronic button on the center console would the car go in to parking lot search mode? Is there any way to stop the music from stopping and dash going to the screen where the cars parking sensors show up while coming to a stop at a stoplight without having the turn off the parking sensors every time i get in the car. Or is my car just malfunctioning and needs to go to the dealer?

There is a button by the lane keep assist, to the left and below your steering wheel. Turn it off.

Keep more distance to the car ahead. The parking sensors automatically come on below a certain speed if you are too close to an object. With the size of the G that probably happens more often. This can be turned off in the settings, though, and then they only come on when you manually turn on the camera or put the car in reverse. Occasionally they can be a bit oversensitive in all models. However, the car will always search for available parking spots below a certain speed and indicate it with arrows next to the blue P in the instrument cluster. But that happens silently. If it found one you can engage Parktronic and select the spot and then let it park. The automatic searching is helpful even when parking manually. Helps with judging if the car is gonna fit. I don't use Parktronic. Just way too slow. I can still park myself.

How do you turn that off in settings?

My bad, I confused it with my previous Audi. With MB it's the physical button you mentioned. Unfortunately, it has to be turned off every time the car is started.

Yep. At this point, every time I get in the car, I have to press 3 buttons, autoStart/stop, lane keep assist, and park assist. A bit of a pain for a 200k car (if you ask me).

I don't drive much on city streets with parallel parking, so Parktronic is a system that I have no experience with, and ignore. LKA and *** are both award winning PITAs that I've permanently disabled. I just bought a '22 BMW X7 that does allow LKA to be permanently disabled via the vehicle config setup menu. I disabled its *** using an aftermarket coding app that works through the OBDII connector. Both vehicles are now safe to drive.

I guess things are not as consistent between different models. Lane keep assist stays off permanently in my C63S coupe and I don't need to turn off park assist as it rarely comes on when it shouldn't. Yes, I turn off *** every time I start the car, but that has become routine, because I also press the button to open the exhaust right away, and auto start/stop is right next to it. Have to wait for the rpms to drop to idle anyway. I also start the car using emotion start every time, which involves holding one of the shift paddles while pressing the engine start button. All part of the experience of an AMG for me.

Oh btw, there is a setting to control the sensitivity. I forgot about that.
