Trailer Brake Pre—Wiring
I have a 21 G550, rated to tow 7k lbs.
Just read through the entire owners manual and I can’t find nothing on pre-wiring or wiring for a brake controller, no mention at all.
How do they expect us to tow anywhere near the stated limit without brakes… 🤦🏼♂️
Anyway, I bought a side by side and picking up a 14” dual axle trailer. Anyone have any insight as to how to utilize the G’s towing capacity and the trailer brakes?

There's an informative tutorial on brake controllers at https://www.etrailer.com/faq-brakecontroller.aspx. Generally, a trailer whose gross weight is less than 3,000 lbs. doesn't require a braking system. Trailers rated above 3,000 lbs have brake systems already installed, and you must configure your vehicle accordingly. Towing large loads that are as much or more than the tow vehicle weight requires exceptional care, and it's worth spending as much time as you can gathering information to ensure safe travel.

My point is that G wagon is rated to tow a 7k trailer, but aren’t even pre-wired for a trailer brake so you need to have all the wiring run or try using a Bluetooth controller.
Just seems odd & frustrating, “towing capacity of 7,000lbs but if you want to tow more than 3k, you have to run all the wires yourself, as we didn’t want to bother with it; please enjoy your 160k vehicle.”

So it must just be pre-wired and capped off somewhere, hopefully behind the dash, as there doesn’t appear to be any settings available in the multimedia system.
I saw in the previous W463 the wiring ran from the wiring harness to the trunk and stopped there. You had buy the wiring and have it installed or mess with it yourself, to get the wiring to the external brake controller of your choice.
If they set the W463A up like the 463, I am leaning towards this.
Bluetooth brake controller

Does anyone know if there is a pre-wired trailer brake pig tail wire connection located somewhere.? Preferable under the dash. I wired a Redarc trailer brake controller in my Porsche Macan and once I found the pre-wired connection under the dash the hook up was simple.
I'm hoping I can do the same in my 2020 G63

Yes, I would use the installed 7 pin connector. But I am assuming I need to add an electric trailer brake controller (Redarc, Tekonsha etc.) I won't have the vehicle until Wednesday so I can't check but I don't believe it comes with a factory installed controller. Accessory list shows (Code Q59 Trailer Hitch Preliminary Setup). I'm assuming that just means it's pre-wired to add a controller)

Sorry -- I misunderstood your inquiry.. The 7-pin connector on my '19 G550 has a 7-conductor cable exiting it, but I don't know if the brake wire terminates under the driver's side dash with a pre-installed connector for a brake controller. The OE tow package does not include a controller, but hopefully there's a connector already installed for one.

Does anyone know where the pigtail is located on a 2019+ G63 to plug in an electric brake controller? I’ve seen on the previous generation that it is located in the rear of the vehicle. Really don’t understand that location. On so many other Mercedes models it is located under the dash above the break pedal. Before I start tearing up my new vehicle I’d really like to know where to start.

7 pin trailer plug
Good morning,
I'll be towing a small travel trailer behind my '17 350. It came with the factory mounted hitch and four pin connecter. It works great with my trailer with surge brakes However, the travel trailer has a 7pin plug . I have the hitch and controller figured out but can't find information on the 7 pin plug that is required.
Is there any info available?
Thanks,

Unless you've already found it, with the factory trailer hitch package on my '16 GLE 350 and '19 GLS 450 it was behind the brake pedal under or at the edge of the trim along the carpet. It's likely tucked in or cloth-wrapped to the wire bundle when not used. Mine was a green connector approx. 3/4" square.
