Thoughts about trade in

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering is anyone done this before and have regrets or postive thoughts. I'm thinking about trading my 992 Turbo S for a G63. I love the porsche but the ability to go anywhere is little limited compared to G63.

Any thoughts and experiance highly appriciated.

Very different cars. Price is similar but beyond that little in common. I have several cars, amongst them are a 911 and a G63. If I need a beater, I take a Tacoma truck. If I need to pop out quickly, then I take a Tesla. If I'm unconcerned about optics nor damage to the vehicle, I take the G. It's a wonderful ride all around. Stomp the gas pedal and it's a rocket, otherwise it's a rather pleasant ride (a bit stiff, but I prefer that). On occasions when the evening breeze calls my name, traffic is low, and I need to release some stress - I take the 911 and typically don't get out of second/third gear.

There are too many variables and not enough information to give advice. At least one that you'd find worthwhile.
Why did you purchase a 911? How do you drive it? Aggressively, daily? What is behind your desire to switch? Why a G63?

@gokro Thanks for the reply, I had couple of 911's since I switched from C63 back in the days to Porsche. I love the 911 and driven pretty hard with my previous one. I had an oppertunity to get a 992 turbo S and I took it. And love the drive and handling it's amazing. However, kind of missing the all around ability to do things since I've moved to Seattle from Aussie. The driving roads are great to moutains and I want little more ability to drive off the tarmac and don't want to keep two high end vehicles. That's why I was thinking to switch back to Merc.
I always had performance cars including M3 and Merc's. The other option I'm considering is getting a Jeep Rubicon.

Keep the Turbo S. Add a Taco TRD pro 6 speed manual.

The answer is probably a Urus. I have the 992 TTS, a Urus and a ‘19 G63, amongst others. You got the TTS because it’s a rocket ship and you probably like the G because it’s big and more usable …. The blend is actually the Urus which is a total treat to drive, and while the G is fast and loud and brash, there’s nothing quite like seeing “Lamborghini” written everywhere as you fly around with crazy torque with kids and a trunk full of lacrosse equipment. Can’t go wrong (trust me I know), but I got the Urus because while I love
my three Gs, they’re not sporty enough to replace a TTS …. But a Urus is.

I went for a test drive yesterday. It's definitly not a replacement when it comes to speed, agility and driving pleasure. It's definitly loud but get up and go is no even close. I think you guys are correct. I feel I will be very sad if I let Turbos S go and probably a Urus, Cayenne Turbo GT or a beater Taco/Jeep would be better alternative.

If you're considering a Rubicon, have you toyed with the idea of the 392?

I'm sure I'll be held over the fire for saying this here, but the Rubicon Wrangler and G-Wagen have a very similar drive feel while the 392 gets you some of the ostentatious V8 noise for nearly half the price. I won't pretend to know your financial decision making but it may allow you to check both boxes and keep the best of both worlds.

@CincyMBGuy Thanks, definitly going to try 392. I think I miss V8 noise more than anything to be honest. Also, being able to drive around to many places without worrying about the road conditions

I have a Rubicon now, while not a 392, I did consider one.
If you're anything like me, you'll pass a dirt road and wonder where it leads.

A quick search shows a ton of them in the $60-$70k range. That's a lot of truck for the money, IMO.

The other option is an F150 Raptor R. That thing will go anywhere quickly if you can afford the gas.

I hear they have some reliablity issues.

They just started landing this past week, so it's probably a little early to say they have reliability issues.

I'd lean towards keeping the 992 TTS and adding a 392 Rubicon for fun driving. They sound awesome, and are pretty darn quick.

If having two vehicles isn't feasible for you for whatever reason, then a G63 isn't a bad way to go. I'd rather daily a G than a TTS, but that has more to do with the crappy roads around here than anything else.

@The Butcher Thanks, I'm leaning towards 392. The roads here in PNW is that bad and lot of twisties for a weekend fun. Well, the trafic here is terrible.

Anyways, I'm curious to know which one is more desirable TTS or G63? It took me two years to get the TTS

Desirability is subjective. Similar lead times for ordering a G63 vs a TTS depending on your dealer's allocations. I'd say a G might come a little quicker though. Porsche was VERY slow last year in TTS allocations to our market, but it seems to be speeding up some. It will also depend on how many legit orders your dealer has in line in front of you.

Anything can be had today for the right price!

Oh, the Bronco Raptor is a ton of fun too. Not a quick as the 392, but the ride is phenomenal. Still a pretty fast truck though. A little more driver's seat interior room as well.
And they look cool as hell on 39s.

It seems 392 is hard to get too. I can't even find one to test drive around here. But there's few G's in stock asking 15-20k orver msrp. One delaer offered (G manufaktur Edition) $236k build with straight swap to my TTS. My 2022 TTS build is around 240k. I don't know it's a good deal or not. But they offered.
